About Us
To introduce ourselves, ‘we’ are Lance Morcan and James Morcan, the Down Under father-and-son writing and producing team; we are novelists, screenwriters and film producers; Lance is based in Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, while James, who is also an actor, is based in Sydney, Australia.
As novelists, we have co-authored the spy thriller series THE ORPHAN TRILOGY (The Ninth Orphan / The Orphan Factory / The Orphan Uprising) and the historical series THE WORLD DUOLOGY (World Odyssey / Fiji: A Novel) and Into the Americas (A Novel Based on a True , which were all published by Sterling Gate Books in trade paperback and Kindle editions. We have adapted The Ninth Orphan to a feature film screenplay. It and Fiji are already in development with Morcan Motion Pictures. We have also published the controversial non-fiction UNDERGROUND KNOWLEDGE SERIES (Genius Intelligence / Antigravity Propulsion / Medical Industrial Complex etc).
As screenwriters, we have co-written numerous screenplays; and as producers we have produced two feature films together.
Morcan Motion Pictures’ first feature, The Pawn, starring Reg Gorman (Evil Angels) premiered at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival and screened at the Imperia Film Festival in Italy. Our second feature, Desired, was shot in Auckland city and premiered at Cannes. This New Zealand thriller was directed by Amanda Phillips and stars Dwayne Cameron (The Tribe).
Lance Morcan
A former journalist and newspaper editor, Lance divides his time these days between novel writing, film producing and screenwriting. Lance is currently perfecting his solo-written New Zealand – an epic adventure novel covering 500 years of South Pacific and Polynesian history. Including research, writing (and life’s distractions!), this novel has been over a decade in the making.
James Morcan
New Zealand-born actor, filmmaker and published author James Morcan resides in Sydney, Australia. His most recent acting performance was a leading role in the post-Apocalyptic feature film After Armageddon which he also wrote. The dystopian adventure film was shot in rural Australia in early 2015 and Morcan co-starred with Berynn Schwerdt (‘Wyrmwood’).
Other recent leading roles include the OZ-Bollywood productions My Cornerstone and Love You Krishna. Morcan also wrote the screenplays for both features which were filmed in Sydney and Mumbai and incorporated English and Hindi languages.
Other productions James has perfromed in include the BBC TV series Dark Knight, several indie features and a live stadium production of Ben Hur headlined by Academy Award winner Russell Crowe. To date, his feature films have screened at cinemas in Australia, New Zealand, India, Italy and Cannes.

Hi, Lance. You have a wonderful site full of interesting articles and inspiring news about your own artistic activities. I also don’t believe I’ve seen a father-and-son team in all the areas you two are involved in (I take it you are the father portion of the team?). I have a very dear friend who is original from New Zealand (Wainuiomata – sp?), and I’ve always had a friendly interest in that country ever since I met him. Thanks for visiting and following my blog. And good luck on all your exciting projects.
Many thanks Sandra. Yep I’m the senior half so to speak. You might like the TV interview link posted recently on our blog. Best, Lance.

Keep up the good work!

Again, I want to thank you kindly for all the support. And you never know, as some of my followers have told me, you could say you’ve had a big hand in helping make Shelby Westland a household name! 😛

Hello, gentlemen, and welcome to the reader family of diabeticredemption.com. I’m glad you’ve joined us. I have a Friends Page on my site, where readers leave information about themselves and their blogs; they leave their URLs, so others can find them. I hope you will feel free to do the same. I tried three times to sign up to follow your blog — no success, as my email is apparently not valid in the eyes of your widget. If there is another way to join, please let me know. This looks like a very cool site, and I love the working/family relationship you two have developed.
Again, welcome. I look forward to getting your reactions, and as well, to find out more about you. 😎
Great to hear from you. Am quite new to this blogging biz so can’t advise on how to follow, sorry. Stay in touch! Best, Lance
I will figure it out — the structure and subject of your blog intrigue me!. 😎

Hi! Thanks for the follow. 🙂
Our pleasure Zina. -Lance
This is fascinating stuff! I’m honoured that you chose to follow the Jenn stories.
How does one approach you (or anyone else, for that matter) about book to film possibilities?
Thanks Jenn. We don’t accept script pitches unfortunately as we are only interested in adapting our own novels to screenplays and have enough on our development slate to last a lifetime. Thanks anyway and good luck.
Best
Lance
No worries. I thought that’s what it seemed like but I figured it was worth asking. 🙂
No worries.
I nominated you for the Shine On Award.

Hi
Any idea how we can get this series in Canada?
We have a kobo, not a kindle so amazon is no help.
Tried our libraries and local bookstores but can’t seem to find them.
Any help would be appreciated!
Hi Heather
Sorry ‘The Orphan Trilogy’ series is only available via Amazon. You can download a free kindle app via Amazon…Short of buying a Kindle that would be your only avenue. Good luck and thanks for your interest!
Lance
You have an impressive collection of work. Thank you for following my blog.
Thanks JM.

Hi Lance, just read the Ninth Orphan, living in the UK at the moment.
Just a quick question? Do you know of any stores in the UK selling The Trilogy? I can find it on Amazon but only the kindle version. And really wanted to own a paperback or hardback copy. Your help would be very much appreciated. The first novel blew me away to say the least! And also managed to get my partner to read it.
Glad you enjoyed The Ninth Orphan. (Do feel free to post a review on Amazon…thanks!). It’s also available via Amazon & CreateSpace (and via larger book wholesalers & many libraries) as a trade paperback; books 2 and 3 in The Orphan Trilogy are currently only available as Kindle ebooks, but trade paperbacks will follow. Happy reading!
I’m looking to purchase your books..but I cannot find them all in paperback editions…are they available through he publishing house?
Hi Catie – Only The Ninth Orphan and Fiji: A Novel are as yet available as trade paperbacks (via CreateSpace, Amazon, most libraries and book wholesalers worldwide). All our Kindle ebooks will be progressively released in paperback form shortly.
Hi Catie – In case you still interested… our following six books are now available via Amazon as paperbacks: Into the Americas, The Ninth Orphan, World Odyssey and Fiji (novels) plus Genius Intelligence and Debunking Holocaust Denial Theories (non-fiction books) with Underground Bases and Antigravity Propulsion due for release any day now and more to follow. -Lance
Hi there – Susan here editor of NZ Yoga Scene magazine and very interested in reviewing the book –

Kia-ora Susan – FYI, “Genius Intelligence” is now available via Amazon as a paperback.
Hi Mr. Morcan, as a editor in chief of Affectum Libris publishing house in Istanbul/Turkey very interested in the book “Genius Intelligence” please contact me at kitap@affectumlibris.com about turkish publishing rights. Awaiting your kindly reply as soon as possible.
Thanks&Regards
Hi Kitap – Thank you kindly for your interest in our book. I have notified our Turkish literary agents at Akcali Ajans of your interest and have confirmed this via email to yourself. Kind regards, Lance Morcan
I have desperately been searching for the BOOK VERSION of your novel: “Into the Americas”….and to no avail, only the Kindle version is offered. Will you ever offer this in hardback version???? We don’t enjoy reading on Kindle, nor many other people we know, and the person we wanted to purchase this book for as a gift does not own a Kindle and prefers holding a tangible book….many of us out here still love the feel of the pages in our fingers being turned….and for some – my husband for an example – has visual problems with electronic screens and he gets headaches………and on and on! I’m just so sad that this book is not available in either hard or soft cover. Will you ever be offering this in the near future……or is there one available that I can purchase? I so look forward to hearing back from you, thank you for your time!
Sincerely, Melody Robichaud
Hi Melody – I have emailed you to advise there is currently only a Kindle version of INTO THE AMERICAS available. A paperback version will be released some time in 2015. Thankyou for your interest. Kind regards, Lance
Paperback version of “Into the Americas (A novel based on a true story)” is available via Amazon now Melody.
Are you aware of the work of Perry and Sheree Trotter and the Shadows of Shoah exhibition?

Just heard of your book, “The Orphanage”
is it true that the mind can access previously unknown information with the aid of tDCS?
That is my understanding re tdcs.
Re the book you refer to… it’s not ours. Perhaps you mean The Ninth Orphan or The Orphan Conspiracies…
Just to say thank you for reaching out by email today, Lance. Your bio is very impressive, I must say. Congrats for your many accomplishments so far. I wish you and your son continued success with your writing and filming projects 🙂
Many thanks Effrosyni!
