Below is the opening quote to our coming-of-age spy thriller novel The Orphan Factory (The Orphan Trilogy, #2) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008M9WWKW/

“A boy comes to me with a spark of interest.
I feed the spark and it becomes a flame.
I feed the flame and it becomes a fire.
I feed the fire and it becomes a roaring blaze.”
-Cus D’Amato (Trainer of World Heavyweight Champions Mike Tyson & Floyd Patterson)

The spirit of Cus D’Amato (who many boxing experts say is the greatest trainer who ever lived) is reflected in The Orphan Factory in that Cus knew how to get the very best out of his young proteges. Likewise, in the novel, the Omega fathers know how to get the best out of their orphans so that they eventually become the most ruthless assassins.

The relationship between the young Mike Tyson and the elderly Cus D’Amato was one of the inspirations for the novel’s father-son like relationship between lead character Nine (aka Sebastian) and Tommy Kentbridge, his mentor inside the orphange.
