I have given up trying to pick what will happen from this bizarre exercise. Just about anything is possible, but I suspect a cleanout of politicians in the next election is probable. Whatever the ending, there will be strife, but I suspect it will be worse if they don’t exit, given both major parties promised to at the last election.

The Queen is expected to do what Parliament decides. She must be in severe difficulty in working out what to do now.
If you leave the EU, you need a large market. 1.4 billion is not bad. But additionally, it gives leverage in future trade discussions with the EU. As I understand, Germany is the major supplier of cars to the UK. The threat of Chinese competition should sharpen Germany’s attitude in trade talks.
