Hi
Welcome to Morcan Books & Films, the blog devoted to providing a unique perspective and intelligent commentary on books and films. Who would you like to see win the 2020 United States presidential election? That’s the question we put to members of our Underground Knowledge global discussion group in our latest poll on Goodreads… and the results may surprise!
Trump ahead in Underground Knowledge group poll.
Candidates include a mix of confirmed, rumored and possible candidates. Poll participants have been invited to add their own favorite candidate if they don’t see their preferred individual on the list.
Listed candidates thus far include: Elizabeth Warren, John McAfee, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Jesse Ventura, Marco Rubio, Jill Stein, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Alec Baldwin, Zoltan Istvan, Donald J. Trump, Jon Rappoport, Oprah Winfrey, Howard Schultz, Al Gore, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, Michael Bloomberg, Joe Biden, Kanye West, Cory Booker, Chelsea Clinton, Mark Cuban, Michelle Obama, Ivanka Trump, Bill Weld, John Kerry, Alex E. Jones, Michael Avenatti, Jim Webb, Kirsten Gillibrand, Tulsi Gabbard, Beto O’Rourke
Interim poll results have President Trump ahead with 19.1% of the early vote; next is Bernie Sanders on 13.8% followed by Michelle Obama on 12.2% and Oprah Winfrey on 6.4%.
Seems not all Undergrounders (members of our Underground Knowledge group) approve of the poll. This comment just in from one upset punter who goes by the name Angel: “Why bring this shit to Goodreads and upset people? I voted here out of principle. But seriously, I don’t think this poll is necessary. Some people come here to escape this stuff.”
Our poll moderator James responded to Angel as follows: “I apologize profusely for hurting anyone’s feelings…”
The Underground Knowledge global discussion group has been designed to encourage debates about important and underreported issues of our era. All you need is an enquiring mind, an interest in the world we live in and a desire to learn or share ‘underground knowledge’.
What is a bigger threat to society: Inequality (whether caused by sexism, racism or other discrimination) or Political Correctness (e.g. censorship, language controls, anti-freedom of speech regulations etc. that aim to prevent inequalities)?
That’s the latest poll question we put to members of our Underground Knowledge discussion group in Goodreads.com.
Interim poll results are as follows: 35% say Inequality; 29% say Political Correctness; 34% say both; 2% are unsure.
In introducing the poll, here’s what Underground Knowledge group co-founder James says:
Hey, hey, hey, don’t shoot the messenger here regarding the phrasing of the poll (Yes, I’m a mind reader!)
This is a really tricky poll to word and I perhaps didn’t quite find the best wording.
But hopefully y’all get the gist of the two sides of the equation here.
For the record, I voted both are equal threats as I fear both extremes. And I’m also very aware that some people try to make out every single concern expressed by minorities or the disadvantaged or outcast would always equate to PC in action — that can be a subtle tactic of fascists or racial agitators or gender/sexuality haters, where they always label any sensitivity concerns expressed as “political correctness” when half the time they are legitimate concerns.
However, I must admit lately I’m getting more and more concerned about not only the more extreme side of Politically Correct (PC) culture (especially censorship) and the all pervasive “Nanny State” it’s breeding — but also the growing “we know best” brigade who seem to judge any action of a public figure that’s even slightly unsavory/distasteful as being completely unforgivable…Some of that sort of lobbying for social justice gets really vicious especially on social media…And it’s weird how those claiming to be humanitarians end up becoming quite militant or even fascist in their attempts to “deliver justice”…
So somehow it seems to be about getting the balance right where we do stand up against legitimate hate speech and purposeful marginalizing of various underdogs of society, without preventing open debate and freedom of speech. Because I wonder if our society could eventually become so overly protective in its desire to create equality and inclusiveness that it births brand new minorities…or else new marginalized groups who don’t fit in or innocently use language, or try to start debates, not deemed acceptable…Or could these measures even create greater divisions than ever existed before?
And is all this what George Orwell was warning us about in his novel Nineteen Eighty-Four?
Do you like or dislike the decision of big tech companies to permanently ban Alex Jones/Infowars from their platforms? We put this very question to members of our Underground Knowledge global discussion group in Goodreads – and the interim results are in.
To date, 54% of poll respondents DISLIKE the decision; 31% of respondents LIKE the decision; and 15% are UNSURE.
Controversial American radio show host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.
Respondents’ comments make for interesting reading.
A selection of (abridged) comments follow:
Definitely dislike. Here’s why: either freedom of speech exists or it doesn’t. We can’t say “Yes, I’ll allow it” when we like the message, and “Nope, I’ll ban this” when we don’t. The internet helped movements like the Arab Spring, #BlackLivesMatter and #MeToo, and we loved that, but let’s not forget that conspiracy theorists and propagandists have the right to use it too.
I voted dislike and think it could be the beginning of a slippery slope with more and more internet censorship. Given that most of our flow of information, and even much of formal child/adult education, is now done via the internet rather than physical books/papers/records, should we be concerned about increasing measures to censor the internet? It seemed to be a co-ordinated censorship of Alex Jones/Infowars where Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIN, Apple and Spotify all banned him on the exact same day… I’m no big fan of Alex Jones or Inforwars, by the way. I mean he/they do have some legit underreported facts and have exposed definite corruption over the years, but at the same time there are a lot of assumptions made and tinfoil hat-style leaps of faith thrown in the mix…
I may not like what someone has to say but I’ll defend the right they have to say it. Right now it’s Alex Jones but next it could be you. A slippery slope coated with grease…
Couldn’t care less if it was Alex Jones or Owen Jones on ‘trial by social media’ here. Leave it to the law and lawyers to work out what constitutes ‘hate speech’, incitement and all the rest, they’re far more qualified to do so.
This is not North Korea…. or Russia….. I definitely don’t support him, but I’m shocked by this kind of censorship.
I dislike what little I have heard of Alex Jones, but that is not the issue. Big companies tend to do what as few as one dictate, and the use of that power to inhibit free speech is fatal to our way of life. I would go for better enforcement of libel, slander, and other laws, but not the stomping on free speech by a very limited elite.
I voted dislike. The coordinated censorship in some regard is the right of the companies that reacted. If our government was not controlled by corporations freedom of speech would not be legitamently be part of this discussion, but such is not the case. The phobia of controversy is the engine of this insidious machine.
I do not believe in taking away freedom of speech in any way. It disturbs me greatly to see so many going after one man, who I don’t particularly enjoy watching, but sometimes he happens to be spot on with his challenges.
What is even more disturbing is the amount of people that are happy to have such censorship! Alex Jones may make up some crap, but have you watched the news lately? They are full of crap too. Mostly putting forth their own opinions instead of giving “the facts and only the facts”.
Membership of our Underground Knowledge global discussion group on Goodreads.com – the site for books, readers and authors – topped 9,000 this week, making it one of the biggest, fastest-growing groups on the Amazon-owned site.
We originally formed this group as a little experiment… Simply to see if anyone else would be interested in citizen journalism or if they wanted to freely discuss all those topics mainstream media almost never covers. We’ve been pleasantly surprised by the huge interest from members all over the world.
Our aim is to encourage debates about important and underreported issues of our era. All you need is an enquiring mind and a desire to gain or share ‘underground knowledge’. Everyone’s welcome!
Here’s a FREE offer to those of you who have written alternative thinking books.
As co-founders of the Underground Knowledge global discussion group – the edgiest group on Goodreads, and one of the fastest-growing, too – it’s our pleasure to invite you to add your books to our ‘Alternative Thinking Books’ discussion thread.
Books featured in this group are noticed. The group’s membership is 8,371 and climbing rapidly. Our members include bestselling authors and avid readers from around the globe. The group was designed to encourage debates about important and underreported issues of our era. All Undergrounders (members) need is an enquiring mind and a desire to gain or share “underground knowledge”.

ALTERNATIVE THINKING BOOKS LISTED IN THE UNDERGROUND KNOWLEDGE GROUP
So…why would the military need a top-secret film studio in Hollywood? And why did they make more films than Hollywood combined for a period?? And why would they hire some of the most cutting-edge cinematographers and special effects wizards to moonlight on classified films?
In the following interview excerpt from the Underground Knowledge podcast, I talk with Californian author/researcher Tantra Bensko about the military’s formerly top-secret Los Angeles film studio, Lookout Mountain Laboratory. And try to find out why most of the films shot there remain classified to this day…

Membership of our Underground Knowledge group – one of the most active and fastest-growing groups on the Amazon-owned book site Goodreads – has now topped 8,000. New Undergrounders (members) are attracted by the topics being debated. Topics that are edgy, controversial, contentious, insightful, informative, educational and, most significantly, outside of the daily diet of mainstream (doctored) news.
Little wonder that Undergrounders are of all political and religious persuasions, come from all walks of life and from all corners of the globe, think outside the square, don’t necessarily accept what they tell us, and are insatiably hungry for the news behind the news.
Our members include award-winning authors and journalists, scientists, historians, researchers, teachers and students, surgeons and doctors, conspiracy theorists, members of the intelligence community and armed services (past and present), corporate execs and unemployed, globetrotters and homebodies – and many more.
One thing they have in common is an enquiring mind and a desire to gain or share underground knowledge. They resonate with the group’s aim, which is to encourage debates about important and underreported issues of our era.
Here’s an overview of some of the group’s discussion threads:
As everyone knows, most conspiracy theories are BS.
However, what about the lesser known and under-reported “conspiracy FACTS”?
The latest episode of the ongoing podcast series UNDERGROUND KNOWLEDGE is all about revealing such conspiracy facts…In this episode I outline 17 mind-blowing facts…Which prove that the conspiracy field is more nuanced than commonly acknowledged…
“In 1977, Carl Bernstein published an exposé of a CIA program known as Operation Mockingbird, a covert program involving, according to Bernstein, “more than 400 American journalists who in the past 25 years have secretly carried out assignments for the Central Intelligence Agency.” Bernstein found that in “many instances” CIA documents revealed that “journalists were engaged to perform tasks for the CIA with the consent of the managements of America’s leading news organizations.”
Operation Mockingbird was a secret campaign by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to influence media. Begun in the 1950s, it was initially organized by Cord Meyer and Allen W. Dulles, it was later led by Frank Wisner after Dulles became the head of the CIA.
The organization recruited leading American journalists into a network to help present the CIA’s views, and funded some student and cultural organizations, and magazines as fronts. As it developed, it also worked to influence foreign media and political campaigns, in addition to activities by other operating units of the CIA.

“A team of researchers in conjunction with the US Air Force Office of Scientific Research is developing what they are calling a micro aerial vehicle (MAV) that will undertake various espionage tasks. The robotic insect can effortlessly infiltrate urban areas, while being controlled from a long distance; and it is equipped with a camera and a built-in microphone.”
“Questions about the Gulf of Tonkin incidents have persisted for more than 40 years. But once-classified documents and tapes released in the past several years, combined with previously uncovered facts, make clear that high government officials distorted facts and deceived the American public about events that led to full U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War.” -U.S. Naval Institute
“Mentally retarded children housed at the Willowbrook State School in Staten Island, New York, were intentionally given hepatitis in an attempt to track the development of the viral infection. The study began in 1956 and lasted for 14 years.
The researcher also wanted to determine the effectiveness of gamma globulin injections as protection against hepatitis. They justified their deliberate infections and exposures by claiming that given that there was a high rate of infection in the institution it was practically inevitable that the children would become infected.”
Number 12: The 1933 Reichstag terror attack…A Nazi false flag attack
“There is enough evidence to establish beyond a reasonable doubt that it was the Nazis who planned the arson and carried it out for their own political ends.” -Shirer, William (2011). The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Simon and Schuster. p. 192.
Undergrounders, or members, in our Underground Knowledge global discussion group on Goodreads, are speculating whether the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) is another invention of the West.
ISIS terrorists…Their reason for being now questioned.
Unsurprisingly, this discussion thread is one of the most active in the group.
Here’s what some of our members are saying:
I’m from the Middle East. Many people in that region believe in the conspiracy theories which holds the west the responsibility for ISIS’s rise. Unfortunately half the conspiracy theories could be true. I have no doubt that the main bulk of ISIS comes from a minority of religious extremes who believe in the idea of martyrdom and apocalypse. Most of those religious fanatics are not local to Iraq and Syria but came from other countries around the world to fight there. Having said that, I believe that some western powers contributed passively and actively in the process of ISIS making…If you track who would benefit from instigating wars in 3rd world countries I’m sure you can trace it back to large oil and weapon companies. Through these wars they maintain their business.
…and I would add to the list mining companies, Big Pharma companies and those corporations like Halliburton who do the rebuilding contracts after our (Western) nations blow these countries up! The whole charade of “fighting for peace” would be hilarious if it wasn’t for the fact that innocent people are dying.
Money, Blood and God: Who Funds Terrorism? https://www.goodreads.com/videos/9797… Tagline for the above video: It’s no secret that religious extremists in the Middle East use kidnapping and robbery to generate income — but they have investors as well. And, though you might not hear it in the news, many of these investors are US allies.
What with this, plus Russia’s supposed coming out with 9/11 inside job details, and the fact Russia have just been bombing the shit out of hospitals in Syria and ‘the west’ retaliating in response, and not to mention that the Russian P.M said this week we were heading for a new cold war… I have a bad feeling the shit’s really gonna hit the fan this year between Russia and ‘the west’…
I tend to agree with the “false flag” interpretation. I have heard another news clip (yet to be verified as true) that Trump has ordered further bombing of the Syrian army who were heading towards eastern Syria, where ISIS is. If true, this is more than deplorable.
Suggest you guys read up on the White Widow, married to the 7/7 bus bomber who was killed. Although there was a warrant out for her, the UK Home Office issued her a new UK passport a month after the bombing, she flew to JHB…Then she pops up training ISIS female fighters, then Ukraine. Who was she working for????
