Hey Guys – Here’s two posters and a press article for a new feature film MY CORNERSTONE, which I acted in and wrote the screenplay for. It’s a romantic comedy that we filmed in Mumbai, India and Sydney, Australia. Thanks, James

Magic New Poster for Aussie-Indian Film MY CORNERSTONE

I’ve never paid much attention to Bollywood-style movies aimed at the Indian market until this past year, when I started reading J Hurtado’s reviews here at Twitch (shout-out to Eega). So it’s with a little excitement that I saw the poster for Aussie Indian film My Cornerstone, as I knew I could share it here with an already attuned audience.

Written by enterprising actor James Morcan (the dashing gent in the poster) and directed by Stanley Joseph, My Cornerstone appears to be three movies in one. The poster suggests everything from magic (sorry, illusions) to clones, while the official synopsis suggests a drama:
A young Indian nurse moves to Sydney where she’s placed in the household of a wealthy Indian-Australian family and given the task of caring for an elderly lady.
Meanwhile, the film’s only entry on Wikipedia lists it as a romance. Only time (and possibly, magic) will reveal what truly happens. There’s not much more information online, but we’ll endeavor to bring you updates when we discover more.

The passing of Margaret Thatcher has predictably sparked an outpouring of mixed emotions around the globe. Thatcher’s supporters have lauded her as Britain’s greatest leader while her enemies in one infamous London neighborhood have gone as far as throwing a street party to celebrate her death.

Love her or hate her, milestones in the tumultuous career of Britain’s first female Prime Minister will forever be etched in history.

One little publicized fact about Thatcher is she was the member of a very exclusive, very mysterious group. An invitation-only group. Its name: The Bilderberg Group.

The Bilderberg Group has some big names in its elite membership. Famous Bilderbergers include Bill Clinton, David Rockefeller, Prince Charles, Bill Gates, Ben Bernanke, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt and Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes who have all attended meetings of the organization.

Other notable US political figures to have officially attended Bilderberg meetings include current Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger, Alexander Haig and Colin Powell, former President Gerald Ford as well as Texas Governor and 2012 Presidential also-ran Rick Perry.

On the international roster, Bilderbergers have included leaders of almost every Western nation, Swiss bankers, EU Commissioners and Royalty. Among past and present attendees are current Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, former British Prime Ministers Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, the King of Spain Juan Carlos I and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip, as well as Thatcher.

Beyond these confirmed Bilderbergers, there’s also a raft of other high profile figures suspected to have participated in conferences – according to the conspiracy theorists at least. For example, shortly before becoming the US President, Barack Obama was rumored to have met with key Bilderberg members at or near their conference venue in Chantilly, Virginia, in 2008.

Other rumored attendees include Rupert Murdoch, George Bush, Sr. and George W. Bush. Hillary Clinton also denies having attended any Bilderberg meetings despite reported sightings of her at the locations of the 2006 (Toronto) and 2008 (Virginia) conferences.

Bill Clinton, however, was an official attendee of the 1991 Bilderberg conference in Germany while still a little known Governor of Arkansas; the following year he won the US Presidential Election.

Conspiracy theorists have long said the Bilderberg Group undermines democracy and influences everything from nations’ political leaders to the venue for the next war. Is there any truth behind this supposed political conspiracy? Well, that depends on who you ask. Certainly, it’s easy to see why conspiracy theories plague the Bilderberg Group.

Bilderberg takes its name from a hotel of the same name in the Netherlands where the first meeting took place in 1954. Ever since, every Bilderberg conference has received almost complete media blackouts despite being held at prominent five-star resorts.

Critics point out this dearth of media coverage is highly unusual given the veritable who’s who of world leaders and movers-and-shakers in attendance each year.

The Bilderberg Group features prominently in our conspiracy thriller, The Ninth Orphan (The Orphan Trilogy, #1). Okay, it’s a work of fiction, but it does raise some interesting questions about a secretive, invitation-only organization whose annual conferences for the most part remain mysteriously off the record. Questions that demand answers.

Still sceptical? Here’s some interesting bedtime reading…

Question: If wars create vast sums of money for the global elite, then could North Korea be a fabricated enemy ala the Soviets, the Viet Cong, Muslims etc, etc?

Kim Jong Un Hasnt Been Seen for Weeks as Kerry, U.S. Confront North Korea Aggression

I have been wondering whether there are enough natural enemies left in the modern world to lead to genuine wars involving superpowers…After recently researching the history of false flag operations, I would have to say no…Otherwise, why would there be a need for any of these false flag attacks? If the countries in question were invading other nations in broad daylight, then surely there’d be no need to fabricate anything.

A false flag operation is basically the act of committing a terrorist event or an act of war and having others blamed for that event. Usually those “others” are either mineral-rich countries (e.g. Iraq, Afghanistan) or geographically important nations (e.g. Vietnam, Cuba).

False flag terrorism is employed by governments and intelligence agencies all over the world. It is cleverly orchestrated propaganda designed to provoke specific reactions from the masses in the build up to war.

Ancient Rome

Roman emperor Nero is said to be responsible for one of the first false flag operations. Most historians concur that Nero was the perpetrator of the Great Fire of Rome in 64 AD in which a third of the city was torched. Nero’s motivation was to build Domus Aurea, an enormous building that would include the Colossus of Nero – none other than a statue of himself! Before to the fire, the Senate had blocked the emperor’s proposal to destroy a third of the city to make way for this complex.

According to Roman historian Tacitus (56 AD – 117 AD), Nero told the Roman population that the Christians (whom Rome were at that time at war with) were responsible for the fire…

The U.S. Government’s proposal to kill American citizens

In the early Sixties during the conflict with Cuba, the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff proposed carrying out acts of terrorism inside the United States.

Operation Northwoods’ ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Northwoods ) plans included the sinking of U.S. war ships, bombs in major American cities, shooting down hijacked American passenger planes, and killing innocent American citizens. Every event would be blamed on Fidel Castro and the Cuban regime. The Joint Chiefs of Staff’s logic was that these events would help gain enough support from the American public and the world at large for a U.S. military invasion of Cuba.

Fortunately President Kennedy rejected the plan in 1962. However, the following year Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas.

The Vietnam War

On August 4, 1964, President Lyndon Johnson alerted his fellow Americans on national television that North Vietnam had attacked the USS Maddox in the Gulf of Tonkin.

Not long afterward, Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which gave Johnson the green light to begin military operations against North Vietnam. American troops were soon stationed in Vietnam and neighboring countries and the ensuing war ended up costing approximately 60,000 American lives and three million Vietnamese.

The thing is, President Johnson and his Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara, had successfully hoodwinked the American people. North Vietnam had not attacked the USS Maddox, as the Pentagon claimed, and the so-called “unequivocal” evidence of a second attack by the North Vietnamese is now commonly acknowledged as being a false report…The Gulf of Tonkin Incident ( http://fair.org/media-beat-column/30-year-anniversary-tonkin-gulf-lie-launched-vietnam-war/ ) was nothing but a phantom attack on the U.S. Military.

WWII was the last legitimate major war, I believe…Nearly all the other wars since (especially Iraq I and II, Vietnam and the various Afghan wars) have just been money spinners spawned by the fear of fabricated enemies or at least unproven enemies.

This all leads to other questions…

Were Communists ever a valid threat?

When the U.S. pulled out of Vietnam, why didn’t the much hyped Domino Theory( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domino_theory ) ever occur? Why weren’t most other Asian countries overrun by Communism as expected?

Is it realistic to have a war on “terror” instead of a regular war against a certain nation or group of nations? Can bearded nomads living in caves really be a genuine threat to superpowers?

And can isolated and impoverished nations like North Korea prevent world peace if the rest of the world wants peace? Would North Korean president, Kim Jong Un, actually order his military to fire nuclear weapons and incite war? If so, what would be in it for North Korea when they’d obviously be committing suicide by inviting the rest of the world to invade their own country within days? And can any leader of any nation really be that stupid?

And why is it leaders of such independent countries (e.g. Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, Libya) are always portrayed as madmen while the likes of George W. Bush are said to be completely sane?

Maybe world leaders (and the invisible puppet masters who pull their strings) are not that different from Rome’s Emperor Nero all those centuries ago…

That’s my two cents worth regarding the current North Korea situation. I don’t pretend to have all of the answers, but I figure one must study the past to understand the present. Then again, I could be totally wrong and maybe North Korea is about to nuke us all!

Feel free to leave a comment below, no matter what your opinion on the matter. Would love to hear from you all.

NZ actor in Bollywood films

Two quirky romantic comedies explore Hinduism, Christianity and multiculturalism.

Voxy.co.nz       Wednesday, 6 March, 2013 – 15:59
James Morcan.

James Morcan

Hot off two soon-to-be released Indian-Australian feature films, New Zealand actor James Morcan is looking forward to a well-deserved break.

Not only did Morcan play starring roles in Love You Krishna and My Cornerstone, he also wrote the screenplays which incorporated English and Hindi.

Both films were produced and directed by Indian-Aussie filmmaker Stanley Joseph, of World Pictures Australia, and were inspired by many of Joseph’s own experiences as an Indian migrant in Australia.

They are quirky romantic comedies exploring Hinduism, Christianity and multiculturalism.

In Peter Jackson style, the films were shot simultaneously – a decision which Morcan says nearly broke the production team. “Shooting two movies at once is an extremely rare undertaking and everybody in our incredibly talented crew was stretched to the limit. To be honest, we almost bit off more than we could chew,” says Morcan.

“I probably only averaged three or four hours sleep a night over the last few months,” Morcan (34) says from his residence in Sydney, Australia. “There was literally no time to think. But in a strange way that’s kind of freeing for an actor as you don’t get too cerebral about the process.”

Morcan was actively involved in every single scene of the shoot, working in front of and behind the camera, and wearing multiple hats. “That sort of on-set involvement was tough but necessary to complete the mammoth task. And I learnt so much about the nuts and bolts of filmmaking. In fact, it was like going to film school.”

As for his roles in the films, Morcan is remaining tight-lipped. “Let’s just say I play an enigmatic role in both stories. Other than that I cannot say too much about my characters as they involve big twists in each film. If I mentioned who I actually play in either movie, it would ruin the surprise for the audience.”

Morcan’s previous films have screened at cinemas in Italy, Australia and France. His career highlights include roles in the Australian independent feature film The Pawn and acting alongside Russell Crowe in Ben Hur: The Stadium Spectacular, at Sydney’s Olympic Stadium. He was also executive producer of the recently released New Zealand feature film Desired, which premiered at Cannes Marche du Film in France.

Aside from his film work, Morcan is also a novelist and co-writes with his Bay of Plenty-based father Lance Morcan. The pair have written four published books including the controversial thriller series The Orphan Trilogy and the historical adventure Fiji: A Novel. Their production company, Morcan Motion Pictures, is also developing feature film adaptations of the novels.

Love You Krishna and My Cornerstone were shot in Mumbai, India and NSW, Australia and are currently in post-production. They are expected to be released internationally later this year.

The Prologue to The Ninth Orphan (The Orphan Trilogy, #1) provides an intriguing insight into the ninth-born orphan’s formative years and kinda sets the scene for what’s to follow…so we thought we’d share it with you.

Here ‘tis. Read and enjoy with our compliments…

Prologue / The Ninth Orphan

A deer grazed on lush grass in a forest clearing. Around her, early morning mist clung to the tops of the spruce and fir trees common to Montana’s Custer National Park. Her ears twitched as the distant screech of a Merlin falcon carried to her in the still mountain air. The deer looked up, but mist concealed any view of the small and relatively rare bird of prey. She resumed grazing.

The deer wasn’t to know, but her remaining lifespan could be measured in minutes.

Two hundred yards downwind, an unusually large hunting party approached. This was a hunting party with a difference. Only one of the hunters was armed – their leader, Tommy Kentbridge; the others were all children ranging in age from ten to twelve. Male and female, they were of various racial backgrounds. Following Kentbridge, they walked silently in single file along a forest trail.

A tall, powerfully-built man in his mid-thirties, Kentbridge moved effortlessly across the hilly terrain. In his wake, the youngsters had to scramble to keep up. Muddy underfoot conditions added to their difficulties. Despite the challenges posed by keeping pace with their fast-moving leader, the children were doing admirably well. Their faces were flushed with excitement.

Kentbridge, who earlier that day had transported the kids from Chicago’s Pedemont Orphanage, kept one eye on his charges as the trail took them along the edge of a cliff. He noted with satisfaction not one of them seemed fazed by the thousand foot drop. They appeared to cope with the danger with all the poise of adults, or of young adults at least.

As he continued to observe the orphans, Kentbridge’s keen eyes missed nothing. A head count confirmed all twenty-three were still with him. Strangely, he only ever referred to them by numbers. The oldest child was Number One, the youngest Twenty Three.

Directly behind Kentbridge, following like a shadow, was a serious-looking, twelve-year-old boy. Number Nine, who was the ninth-born orphan, had startling green eyes that seemed all-knowing and gave him a maturity beyond his years. Nine’s intelligent face was framed by dark, wavy hair. He wore a silver necklace. A ruby dangled from it, bouncing on his chest as he walked. The exquisite stone gave off a blood red glow in the sunlight.

A slightly younger, blonde-haired girl followed close behind. Number Seventeen was, of course, the seventeenth-born orphan. She surveyed the world through icy-blue eyes. Those same eyes were now fixed on the center of Nine’s back. It irked the competitive Seventeen that Nine had ensconced himself between Kentbridge and herself. She felt like she was always following in the boy’s footsteps.

Kentbridge slowed momentarily as the trail took them away from the cliff-top. The screech of a Merlin falcon attracted his attention. Just as the mist had concealed the falcon from the deer’s view moments earlier, it also concealed the falcon from Kentbridge’s view.

Some sixth sense prompted Kentbridge to unshoulder his rifle – a powerful, semi-automatic, military-issue weapon which he handled with the familiarity of a sniper.

The orphans’ leader suddenly froze. Behind him, the children became motionless also. A hundred yards upwind, a beautiful deer stood grazing, superimposed against the green foliage. She continued to graze, unaware humans were in the vicinity.

Kentbridge flashed military-style hand signals to his young charges. In unison, the orphans dropped to the ground. Close behind Kentbridge, Nine and Seventeen watched in awe as their leader sunk down onto one knee and aimed his rifle at the deer. At the last second, he lowered his weapon a fraction then fired. The shot shattered the silence. The deer went down.

The orphans and their leader raced over to the deer to discover she was not yet dead. On her side, the deer was trembling and white foam covered her nose and mouth. The foam turned pink then red as her inner organs reacted to the trauma caused by one not-so-well-placed bullet. Her breathing came in short rasps. The dying animal pawed the air with her legs as the orphans crowded around her.

Kentbridge handed his rifle to his shadow, Number Nine, and nodded toward the trembling animal. Of all the orphans, Nine was his most brilliant pupil. He was stubborn and defiant, but also highly intelligent. In many ways he reminded Kentbridge of himself.

The other twenty-two orphans felt varying degrees of jealousy as they watched Nine psyching himself up to carry out their teacher’s order. Although very intelligent and gifted in their own right, the others sensed Nine had some indefinable X-factor that gave him an edge over them. It set him apart and they knew it…

***************************************************

In the climax of The Ninth Orphan, book one in our top rated conspiracy thriller series The Orphan Trilogy, our hero, the ninth-born orphan, gate-crashes the Bilderberg Group’s annual conference.

Okay, it’s a work of fiction, but it does raise some interesting questions about a secretive, invitation-only organization whose annual conferences for the most part remain mysteriously off the record. Questions that demand answers.

Conspiracy theorists have long said the Bilderberg Group undermines democracy and influences everything from nations’ political leaders to the venue for the next war; the politicians and industrialists who attend say it’s nothing more than a think-tank, conducted without media coverage so the world’s most powerful can speak freely.

The Ninth Orphan, which merges fact with fiction, exposes a secret elite pulling the strings of various administrations.

Conspiracy theorists point out this dearth of media coverage is highly unusual given the veritable who’s who of world leaders and movers-and-shakers in attendance each year.

Other notable US political figures to have officially attended Bilderberg meetings include current Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger, Alexander Haig and Colin Powell, former President Gerald Ford as well as Texas Governor and 2012 Presidential hopeful Rick Perry.

Some say these and all other US attendees have been in direct violation of the Logan Act, a Federal law which prevents US citizens and representatives from making policy decisions in secret with foreign government officials. However, no Bilderberger has ever acknowledged engaging in policy-making during the meetings and there is no clear proof that any of them do.

The Ninth Orphan reveals a secret elite pulling strings.

On the international roster, Bilderbergers have included leaders of almost every Western nation, Swiss bankers, EU Commissioners and Royalty. Among past and present attendees are current Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, former British Prime Ministers Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and Margaret Thatcher, the King of Spain Juan Carlos I and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip.

Veteran Bilderberg observer, Jim Tucker, phoned Obama’s office during the campaign to confirm whether he had attended the conference. A campaign spokeswoman refused to discuss the matter, but would not deny that Obama had attended.

So what does all this mean exactly? Is it just a pile of the usual circumstantial evidence that seems to conveniently support most conspiracy theories?

According to Belgian magnate and Bilderberg chairman Étienne Davignon, that is exactly the case. Davignon says an attraction of Bilderberg Group meetings is they provide an opportunity for participants to speak candidly and to find out what major figures really think without the risk of off-the-cuff comments becoming fodder for media controversy. However, partly because of its working methods to ensure strict privacy, the Bilderberg Group is often accused of conspiracies.

Then again, it is hard to believe the only decisions the world’s elite make at these exclusive resorts each year is what to order for dinner or what time to play golf…

Still sceptical? Take a look at this interesting bedtime reading…

Amazon reviewer Linda Townsend loved The Ninth Orphan so much she has started reading the prequel (book two) – and is finding it “awesome!”

Here’s her (abridged) review:

A Very Suspenseful Spy Thriller You Won’t Be Able to Put Down!!!!!!

OMG! First of all, please know that this book is outside of the genre I have normally read. However, it will not be the last as I found myself unable to put it down… don’t start it when you need to get to sleep! The Ninth Orphan is the tale of one of a group of children who were genetically manipulated and raised from inception to be operatives for a clandestine organization in a very controlled environment. This is the tale of one of those children who makes a break from the organization that has been the only “parent” he knows. BTW, I’ve now started reading the prequel to this story (and it’s awesome!) I look forward to more great reads from these authors!
