‘ANTIGRAVITY PROPULSION: Human or Alien Technologies?’  is a far-reaching exploration into the UFO phenomenon that covers all possible scenarios and discounts nothing.

With a foreword by advanced interstellar propulsion systems expert Grant Hayman and afterword by leading scientist and space industry veteran Dr. Takaaki Musha, one of the great enigmas of all time is examined with equal doses of open-mindedness and skepticism.

Director of the Advanced-Science Technology Research Organization in Yokohama, Dr. Musha is a former senior research scientist at Japan’s Technical Research and Development Institute of the Ministry of Defense, Japan. In his afterword, he writes: “This well balanced and unbiased book is long overdue for those searching for the truth about advanced technologies currently being concealed from the general populace by elite levels of governments.”

In her review of ‘Antigravity Propulsion’, former NASA engineer/manager Marcha Fox says, “I was particularly impressed by the unbiased, objective, journalistic views presented in this interesting book. The authors look at all angles and possibilities, allowing the reader to digest them on his or her own merits versus being nudged or sometimes shoved to the conclusions desired, as is the case of many such books.

“The authors assume that UFOs do indeed exist, a fact which is gradually being accepted as more evidence is released and credible witnesses continue to come forward. However, rather than assuming these strange vehicles are of extraterrestrial origin, the possibility is presented that perhaps not all of them are.”

(Marcha was employed by NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. She is now a sci-fi author of note).

San Francisco Review of Books

Mr. 100% by [Morcan, Lance]

An effulgent new novella!

New Zealand novelist and screenwriter Lance Morcan is a former journalist and newspaper editor with over twenty published books to his credit. Often he writes in collaboration with his son James Morcan, but new novel is another solo for Lance. Following the ongoing output of a talented author such as Lance is rewarding in that with each new publication, a different aspect of his talent is evident. Having read almost all of his books, this reviewer believes MR. 100% to be his most polished and creative novel to date – and that is significant given his prodigious tally of works! More acutely than ever, Lance displays a fine gift for creating characters – both central and peripheral. The cast seems familiar, not that anyone has cultured them in the fine style that Lance delivers, but in the fact that they are credible to the point of being visual.

Setting the tone for this story, the book opens with A Dilemma – ‘On the evening of November 2nd, 1987, in the den of his upmarket Manhattan apartment in New York City, a depressed and intoxicated Madison Harley studied his Glock 17 through the bottom of an empty whiskey glass. The pistol, which rested on the desktop alongside a near-empty bottle of Heaven Hill Bourbon, was loaded. Harley planned to use the Glock to end his life very soon, but not before he drained the bottle. It was, after all, a question of priorities….’ Being witness to a thought of suicide incites the curiosity of the reader to explore this character’s circumstances.

The synopsis of the plot outlines the dilemma without spoiling the tenor of the novel: Hotshot New York defense lawyer Madison Harley only takes on clients he believes innocent. He’s known as ‘Mr. 100%’ because he has never lost a case, and consequently he is Public Enemy No. 1 in the eyes of the police, prosecutors and the media. The bad press has taken a toll on his personal life. His wife has moved out, taking their two young sons with her and instigating divorce proceedings. When his latest client confides that he is guilty of the horrific rape-murder he’s accused of, a depressed and guilt-wracked Harley hires a contract killer to terminate him after the jury delivers a Not Guilty verdict. It’s 1987 and groundbreaking developments in the field of forensic science sees DNA profiling used for the first time in criminal investigations in America. The release of DNA test results causes Harley to rescind his order to carry out the hit on his client. Unfortunately for him, the killer doesn’t change direction once a ‘kill’ order has been placed. The nightmare scenario that follows sees Mr. 100% negotiating for his client’s life, his own life and the lives of his estranged family with a Mafia henchman, stalking a contract killer and acting as a minder for a client who it appears really is innocent and who is oblivious to the mayhem unfolding around him. Throughout it all, Harley is sustained by the affections of a new woman in his life – a prosecutor with the District Attorney’s Office no less.

Once again Lance Morcan proves he is a master weaver of stories. Not only is this a fine story, but it also adds a depth of knowledge about the impact of DNA profiling, a topic which along with omnipresence of surveillance cameras, facial recognition, and other contemporary invasive legal profundities, deserves exploring! Rich in flavor and fine characterizations, this novel is particularly fine. Highly recommended.

Susan Fox was lost in thought as the cab she traveled in negotiated the city’s rush-hour traffic. Her destination was the Sheraton Grand Hotel in South Hope Street – the venue for a celebration of the recent re-election of Los Angeles’ popular mayor, Dean Lopez.

Twenty-two-year-old Susan, or Suzie to friends and colleagues, was attending the function in her capacity as a member of the mayor’s now disbanded election team of voluntary canvassers. That successful exercise, along with a glowing testimonial from an appreciative Mayor Lopez, had helped secure her a sought-after position as an account executive with a prestigious boutique public relations firm. It was her first job, her first real job, since graduating from UCLA where she excelled in the allied fields of communications and journalism.

When the cab stopped for a red light, Suzie reflected on the past week. It was, she thought, the week from hell. And that was saying something. As someone who had been subjected to sexual abuse in her teens, first by an abusive stepfather and then by a corrupt policeman, she’d had some bad times to contend with, but this past week, in her opinion, had to be one of the worst.

An Interim Assignment by [Shaddock, George]

An Interim Assignment

The old SNJ Navy trainer made a perfect wheels-up, dead-stick landing in Lake Winnebago. As it came to a halt 25 yards from the beach, the pilot’s desperate effort to open the canopy proved useless. The canopy is locked. A moment later, he watched a woman with a rock in her hand, smashing the canopy to bits. She continued to pound the Plexiglass and throw the shards away while shouting for him to remove all restraint straps. The moment the opening in the canopy was large enough, she pulled him out of the plane just as it began to sink to a watery grave. She then had to help him swim to shore.

The pilot is Captain Josh Wiley, the best Navy fighter pilot the Navy has ever produced. Captain Wiley has recently been given complete control of the Top Gun School in Fallon NV. The woman who saved him is Sidney Davies, a retired commander of a Marine ground-support helicopter squadron.

Captain Wiley’s assignment has been to check F-15 fighter jets for compliance with a sales contract…a contract signed by the President with the Saudis. The Captain has uncovered a serious problem.

Captain Wiley’s survival from the crash make him a target for assassination and, by assisting him, Sidney has also become a target. Their struggle to remain alive and stop delivery of the aircraft is finally brought to the attention of Admiral James Fenimore, Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, DC.    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GXKXLZN/

We do like Jonathan Nakapalau’s review of our epic thriller novel Silent Fear…

This one really grabbed me! It is by far one of the best thrillers I have read in quite some time! The feeling of isolation is gelatinous as events unfold and questions start to follow every answer – I found myself wondering what I would do if I were in a similar situation (which is one of the ways I know I am getting ‘drawn in’). Unlike so many ‘formulaic’ attempts to scare this is a ‘nightmare stew’ that will fill you full of dread!

Silent Fear (A novel inspired by true crimes) by [Morcan, Lance, Morcan, James]

When you can’t hear…death comes silently.

Scotland Yard detective Valerie Crowther is assigned to investigate the murder of a student at a university for the deaf in London. The murder investigation coincides with a deadly flu virus outbreak, resulting in the university being quarantined from the outside world. When more deaf students are murdered, it becomes clear there is a serial killer operating within the sealed-off university. A chilling cat-and-mouse game evolves as the unknown killer targets Valerie and the virus claims more lives.

A stunning, claustrophobic, ‘whodunit’ murder-mystery, Silent Fear  is the eighth novel by father-and-son writing team Lance & James Morcan, writers of the bestselling White Spirit, The Orphan Trilogy  and Into the Americas.
