One of us (James) is currently reading the memoir Classified Woman, by former FBI employee-turned whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, and it’s a real eye-opener.

Nicknamed “the most classified woman in U.S. history,” Ms Edmonds recently joined our Underground Knowledge group on – hence our recommendation of her book to fellow members. The ‘most classified woman’ tag, incidentally, is because of gagging orders placed on her by Congress as a result of her firsthand knowledge of information withheld following the 9/11 attacks.

Sibel Edmonds…classified.

Ms Edmonds worked as a language specialist for the FBI where she reported serious acts of security breaches and cover-ups, and for that she was retaliated against and ultimately fired. The court proceedings on her case were blocked by the assertion of State Secrets Privilege, and the U.S. Congress has been gagged and prevented from taking up or even discussing her case through retroactive classification issued by the Department of Justice.

According to Classified Woman’s description, the author “takes us on a surreal journey that begins with the secretive FBI and down the dark halls of a feckless Congress to a stonewalling judiciary and finally, to the national security whistleblowers movement she spearheaded.

“Having lived under Middle East dictatorships, Edmonds knows firsthand what can happen when government is allowed to operate in secret. Hers is a sobering perspective that combines painful experience with a rallying cry for the public’s right to know and to hold the lawbreakers accountable. With U.S. citizens increasingly stripped of their rights in a calibrated media blackout, Edmonds’ story is a wake-up call for all Americans who, willingly or unwillingly, traded liberty for security in the wake of 9/11.”

Ms Edmonds also recently published her first novel – a spy thriller titled The Lone Gladio. Although fiction, the book interweaves a lot of factual information, which the author has intimate knowledge of, including assassinations, drug running, false flag ops and the CIA’s and NATO’s secret terrorist-sponsoring program known as ‘Operation Gladio’.

A suggestion that Al Qaeda was created in the West “to destabilize and destroy sovereign countries while sustaining the illusion of an outside enemy” has sparked a timely debate in our ‘Underground Knowledge’ discussion group on Goodreads. Timely given current events in Iraq and Syria involving ISIS, IS, ISIL et al.

Al-Shabab: The Somalian terrorist group with Al Qaeda links, has seen four San Diego residents been arrested in the past month

The debate was prompted by the airing of a contentious article originally published by Global Research, shedding light on the nature of Al Qaeda.

Here’s an excerpt from that article:

The truth is, there is no Islamic army or terrorist group called Al Qaeda. And any informed intelligence officer knows this. But there is a propaganda campaign to make the public believe in the presence of an identified entity representing the ‘devil’ only in order to drive the ‘TV watcher’ to accept a unified international leadership for a war against terrorism. The country behind this propaganda is the US and the lobbyists for the US war on terrorism are only interested in making money.

To read the full article, and members’ responses to it, go to:

Judging by the comments received in our group’s ‘False Flag Operations’ discussion thread, many if not most members believe Al Qaeda is a creation of the West, or, as one American contributor points out, “Another fabricated enemy we built in the US for sinister purposes.”

Here’s some more random comments (names redacted) on the subject of Al Qaeda:

ISIS, ISIL, IS… Al Qaeda… The ‘enemy’ keeps changing. The ‘enemy’s’ name and location keeps changing. We’re getting more and more used to a war that doesn’t really bother a lot of the West, when the video of someone’s cat on YouTube is more important. You have all read 1984, right?

It seems like once the media repeats the names and evil intentions of these often-fabricated organizations enough times, the masses believe it and nobody (not even investigative journalists) researches the true origins of these groups.

Al Qaeda weren’t even ever mentioned in mainstream news (hardly) before 9/11, just as other groups that now spring up weren’t known about- but it’s a complex subject.

Yes it’s all BS. Believe exactly 0% of what the main stream media and the government says…0%

This story is just one of numerous pieces of evidence pointing toward Al Qaeda being created in the West (specifically in New York, actually). And when all those evidences are added up, it equates to an absolute fact that Al Qaeda was yet another fabricated enemy we built in the US for sinister purposes. And yet now there’s a new enemy in ISIS and still people never study history before reacting to the exact things in the present that the globalists want us to react to.

On a related note to this thread, RT have reported on the FBI inventing terrorists. Apparently, since 9/11, only 11 cases of ‘terrorist arrests’ posed a “potentially significant” threat to the United States. The rest of ’em are pretty much FBI entrapments to make the threat of terrorism on home ground look more worrying that it is.…

Bin Laden’s death highly suspicious in my opinion. Check out this post here:…

What the truth is about Bin Laden’s alive or dead status is anyone’s guess, but there’s not a shadow of doubt in my mind that the official raid and quick burial was just utter bollocks. A classic example of where one country just feeds something to the news (their little cabaret act in Pakistan on video and mention of some undisclosed intelligence) and lo and behold, the press and subsequently the people take it as being true.

In the latest Amazon review for our non-fiction book THE ORPHAN CONSPIRACIES: 29 Conspiracy Theories from The Orphan Trilogy, reviewer Joyce Metzger describes it as “A thought provoking, nail biting, wrinkled brow, and chilling after-thought realization book.”

Here’s Ms Metzger’s (unabridged) review:

★★★★★  New Day for Polymath, Polyglots, and Hypnopaedia?

Clandestine activities, brain washing, CIA, FBI, global elites modus operandi, false flag propaganda, global financial crisis, corporation manipulation, banks, MK-Ultra, Project Monarch, the Bilderberg Group, world administration founder’s manipulation, and CEO’ s gone berserk are presented, and discussed in this thought provoking, nail biting, wrinkled brow, and chilling after-thought realization book.

“Bilderberg pulls the strings of every government and intelligence agency in the western world.” Is this true? Are they, are we, at the mercy of puppet masters who are cruel, manipulative, sadistic and sinister? Candidates presented for office have already been carefully hand picked, scrutinized, and sanitized. Voters have a tiny voice. If we tip the scales, the electoral vote decides the “right” way.

” The Fed is an institution that acts independently of the US congress, has zero transparency, or accountability, and it even determines its own monetary policy. ” Thomas Jefferson said that ” a central bank would lead to a monopoly.”

Two failures, then along comes the US Federal Reserve System. The entire monetary system seems to be a gigantic Ponzi scheme. The Fed controls interest rates, inflation, and the money printing. “Creating money out of air.” Better known perhaps, as vapor air, nothing solid to back it. Hot air balloons. Corruption feeding upon the road kill.
Check out this book. Visions are rare, or maybe, they are effectively stifled forever. Put on your Zap-cap. Have the hands of those puppets in power been tied by a Splinter Civilization? It’s true, we all need a light at the end of the tunnel.

The Trojan Horse Sterling had referred to reflected his belief that the truth about Jonestown had never been revealed to the American people. A belief shared by his fellow co-founders. They were certain that while there were undoubtedly suicides at Jonestown, the event could more accurately be described as a mass murder that resulted from an experiment of sorts carried out by various US agencies. The Orphan Factory

Aerial view of Jonestown, Guyana.

The Peoples Temple Agricultural Project was a predominantly American residential community in Guyana, South America. Branded a cult by the media, it was more commonly known as Jonestown in deference to its leader, Jim Jones, a former communist and drug addict, and son of a Ku Klux Klansman.

Cult leader Jim Jones

Peoples Temple cult leader Jim Jones.

The community made world headlines on November 18, 1978, when it was announced 918 people at Jonestown, including 200 children, had died. All but two Peoples Temple members died from cyanide poisoning in what was labeled “revolutionary suicide” by Jim Jones himself.

Jonestown after the ‘event’…ghastly and surreal.

Besides the suicides at Jonestown, several surviving Temple members murdered five others, includingCalifornia Congressman Leo Ryanat the nearby Port Kaituma airstrip.

Jonestown remained the largest loss of American civilian life in a single non-natural disaster until the deaths that occurred in the US on 9/11 in 2001.

Everything covered so far in this chapter is the official version of what occurred at Jonestown. However, there have long been rumors of MK-Ultra experimentation with the commune before the tragic incident occurred, and CIA involvement before and after the incident. Crucial sources, including Jonestown survivors as well as local officials first on the scene, appear to radically contradict the mass suicide story.

Cult members remonstrate with Jones (center) immediately before the ‘suicides’. The photographer was Greg Robinson, of the Examiner, who was one of the media reps killed at Georgetown Airport.

If something other than the mass suicide the history books inform us happened in 1978 at Jonestown, then what did occur? A dark social experiment, wholesale murder, CIA assassinations, mind control implementation gone wrong, or what? These, and more, have been touted as fact by independent researchers over the years.

In The Orphan Factory, we explore these theories when Nine and another orphan-operative attempt an assassination, deep in Guyana’s Amazon rainforest, of a survivor of the Jonestown tragedy.

What struck him most were the discrepancies in the body count, and Omega’s research people had come up with some interesting theories on that. –The Orphan Factory

Jonestown discrepancies

Unusual anomalies within the US Government’s official version of Jonestown raise alarm bells as they do seem to point to a conspiracy. In fact, there were so many conflicting reports that it was, and is, difficult to make head or tail of the event.

Jonestown bodies

Senseless deaths surrounded by mystery…then and now.

The Guyanese army, whose soldiers were among the first on the scene, reported only 408 Temple members had died by their own hand. Then the New York Times reported the actual number was around 500.

US Military personnel arrived several days later and the body count quickly rose – from 700 to a final tally of 909. No official explanation was ever given for these differing body counts although one US official was quoted as saying, “Guyanese cannot count.”

U.S. military officers place Jones's victims in coffins

American Soldiers prepare bodies for shipment in coffins from Georgetown Airport, Guyana (above) while more bodies are unloaded in bodybags (below).

There were also conflicting reports on the causes of death. The New York Times had reported the first medical official to arrive on the scene said he’d witnessed numerous gunshot wounds on victims. That didn’t tally with the official story that the majority had committed suicide by drinking cyanide. And no-one seemed to know exactly how many people were in Jonestown at the time. Therefore, reports listing 33 survivors couldn’t be verified.

Local newspaper the Guyanese Daily Mirror reported that around 60 to 80 American Green Berets and several hundred members of the UK’s SAS Black Watch were performing military exercise drills in the jungles surrounding Jonestown at the exact same time the mass suicides or the massacre – depending on your take – occurred.

Was that a coincidence or does it as some suggest point to a sinister outside party, or parties, being responsible for the deaths?

Another anomaly in the official version as told by the US Government was that the bodies lay neatly arranged in rows and showed no signs of the heavily twisted rigidity known to be induced in cyanide suicides.

In the coroner’s court, Guyanese pathologist Dr. Leslie Mootoo stated the bodies looked like they’d been murdered and, in his opinion, were not suicides at all. Dr. Mootoo also said that while he did find gunshot wounds on a small percentage of the victims, he found needle marks on the vast majority.

Needle usage would directly contradict the cyanide story as the official story says the cyanide was taken orally.

The US Army, however, said the cause of death was irrefutably cyanide suicides. Interestingly, it was only after mounting pressure from family members of the deceased back in America that the Army finally agreed to perform some autopsies – seven out of 900 deaths to be precise. Those token autopsies were clearly too few to gain true insight into what caused the deaths.

Assassination of a congressman

Californian Congressman Leo Ryan had flown down to Guyana to investigate strange irregularities at Jonestown shortly before the incident.

Congressman Leo J. Ryan

Congressman Ryan.

In the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Vault the following description is listed under the code name RYMUR (The Leo Ryan Murder/Jonestown Investigation): “On November 18, 1978, while investigating human rights abuses by a large cult led by James Warren “Jim” Jones (1931-1978), Congressman Leo Ryan (1925-1978) and several companions were murdered by Jones’ followers. Ryan had traveled to “Jonestown,” the cult’s compound in the South American country of Guyana, at the behest of his constituents, some of whom had family members in the cult. Following Ryan’s murder, Jones ordered his followers to commit mass suicide; more than 900 bodies were later found, most having died by taking poison. The FBI, charged with investigating violence against public officials, opened a probe into the murder of Ryan (hence the case name RYMUR) and provided other support and investigative assistance in relation to the mass casualties.”

Congressman Leo Ryan and three journalists killed on Jim Jones's orders

The bodies of Congressman Ryan and companions after the murders.

It has been claimed by some Jonestown researchers that Leo Ryan, who had been a vocal critic of the CIA for years, had discovered the community was not being run by Jim Jones, but by the CIA; instead of allowing Ryan to return to the US to inform congress, the CIA killed Ryan then shut down the entire Jonestown program by instigating a massacre.

CIA fingerprints on the crime scene

Jonestown member George Blakey, who was a chief aid to Jim Jones, was later identified as a CIA agent. Blakey purchased the land on which Jonestown was built. That, together with his CIA involvement and the community’s tragic end, could reasonably point to it being some kind of bizarre agency experiment.

What Blakey did immediately after the apparent Jonestown massacre lends weight to this theory. Within days, he reportedly moved to the nearby tax haven of Trinidad where he withdrew US$5 million from a Credit Suisse bank account.

In another CIA connection, US Embassy official Richard Dwyer was with Leo Ryan at the time of the airfield shootings and was later confirmed to have been a CIA agent. The first report of the “mass suicide” was made via radio a couple hours after the deaths occurred. Nobody has ever confirmed who made the radio reports, but perhaps tellingly, Richard Dwyer was the only person at Jonestown known to have a working radio.

Intriguingly, on the suicide tape recording of the last few minutes before the deaths occurred within the commune, Jim Jones can clearly be heard saying, “Get Dwyer out of here. Take him out of here now before something bad happens to him.” This implies Jones and the CIA were in cahoots as the cult leader would not allow anyone else to leave the commune.

Many independent researchers also believe the suicide tape was heavily edited to disguise the unmistakable sound of gunshots. If true, this also points to murders, not suicides.

“Most of the deaths were undoubtedly the work of MK-Ultra brainwashed moles operating inside the Peoples Temple community.”The Orphan Factory

The MK-Ultra theory

There are numerous theories suggesting Jonestown was a CIA test site for brainwashing and mind control. It has been claimed that Leo Ryan visited Jonestown because he’d uncovered evidence that Jonestown was a large-scale MK-Ultra experiment.

In a potential red flag supporting this theory, the psychoactive drugs found in Jonestown included most of those used in the MK-Ultra program.

Early settlers of Jonestown

Peoples Temple members in happier times.

Many investigators have theorized that Larry Layton, a senior member of Jonestown, was also an undercover CIA agent. In what could be a telling connection, Layton’s father was in charge of the US Army’s Biological Weapons Research unit. Mere coincidence? Or was Jonestown a “research experiment” conducted by the military?

Larry Layton immediately after the killings at Georgetown Airport.

Another thread that could link Jonestown with an MK-Ultra experiment is that US citizens were taken from mental hospitals and children were taken from orphanages in America and placed in the commune. (You’ll recall from the declassified CIA documents mentioned in chapter 2 that it’s on the record mental patients and orphans were experimented on against their will under the MK-Ultra program).

Why such a massacre had occurred, the Omegans could only speculate. Some thought it may have been to stop a large-scale emigration out of America to a fabled Utopian society; others wondered if it was intended to create fear in the populace – fear of cults, fear of Communism, fear of anything foreign; and still others believed it was to create a precedence whereby any groups labelled a cult would be vilified without due diligence by the public. The Orphan Factory

“A Waco beta test”

The 1993 Waco massacre of members of the Christian sect, the so-called Branch Davidians, in Texas, shares much in common with Jonestown: there were conflicting reports regarding cause of death, psychoactive drugs were found on the property and there was confusion surrounding cult leader David Koresh’s intentions. In fact, Waco had a whole host of eerily similardiscrepancies, not to mention traces of CIA involvement and possibly mind control operations as well.

Waco Massacre…similarities with Jonestown.

As we wrote in The Orphan Factory; “MK-Ultra victims included the Branch Davidians at the Waco compound in Texas,” and “Jonestown was a Waco beta test.”

The US Government’s own reports emphasize that Koresh had repeatedly insisted suicide was not an option for him or his fellow community members. As with Jonestown, the commonly held belief that the entire religious community at Waco wanted to die doesn’t seem to hold true upon closer inspection.

“It suited the authorities that mainstream media reported the Jonestown tragedy as a mass suicide,” Naylor continued. “The American public readily accepted that, shocking though it was. But make no mistake. It was primarily mass murder and the Peoples Temple was effectively turned into a slaughter house.”The Orphan Factory

In addition to what’s been covered in this chapter, there have been several other prominent conspiracy theories concerning Jonestown, including one which plays on the communist connections with the cult and claims the Soviets were responsible.

Some have even theorized the Jonestown massacre was some kind of sick “racial cleansing” experiment. As most Jonestown victims were black, some have argued it was a eugenics purification test conducted by white racists to prepare for even greater ethnic casualties in years to come. (See chapter 15 for more on eugenics).

Another strange thing about Jonestown was Jim Jones’ corpse. The Peoples Temple leader was known to have tattoos all over his chest. Yet the photos of his corpse found after his supposed suicide shows a chest free of tattoos. (See photo at right).

Jim Jones crime sceneAmerica’s House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) concluded the massacre was entirely due to Jones’ “extreme paranoia” and there was no outside interference from the CIA or otherwise. Strangely though, 5000 HFAC documents on Jonestown remain classified to this day.

If the old adage Where there’s smoke there’s fire is true then Jonestown must have been a cover-up of some kind. And it does seem unlikely anyone could convince more than 900 people to willfully commit suicide, especially when so many were young children.

Then again, our assumptions could all be wrong as brainwashing doesn’t only belong in the domain of intelligence agencies. Fanatical, brainwashed cult members all over the world have committed mass suicides. (Remember the Heaven’s Gate suicides?). And by all accounts Jim Jones was a megalomaniac. So it’s possible he killed himself and his devotees followed suit as per the official story. And who’s to say Jonestown members didn’t believe their leader was guiding them all into heaven?

Musical Mind Control, Another Music Conspiracy Theory Or Hidden Truth?

Some of America’s highest profile assassins – including the likes of John Lennon’s killer Mark David Chapman and Robert Kennedy’s assassin Sirhan Sirhan – claimed they were CIA-programmed killers hypnotized by MK-Ultra. The media portrayed them as crazed lone gunmen, so naturally the public paid little attention to their claims. Kentbridge, however, knew it was possible some of these men were mind controlled soldiers, or Manchurian Candidates, carrying out assassination orders their conscious minds were not even aware of.The Ninth Orphan

Sirhan Sirhan and David Chapman…Manchurian Candidates?

In our international thriller series The Orphan Trilogy, the orphans are up against – amongst other things – mind control programming. Most don’t realize they are under the spell of mind control. They simply know they are fighting against something dark which lies deep within, hidden in their psyche.

In The Orphan Uprising our lead character Number Nine, aka Sebastian, goes up against a legion of mind-controlled orphans he grew up with. Nine only escapes the sinister tentacles of mind control when helped by an FBI agent who specializes in deprogramming mind control victims.

On the surface, our series’ plot may sound like far-fetched science fiction. However, the reality is mind control is a documented fact.

Manipulating the thoughts and behaviour of unsuspecting victims has been occurring for at least 60 years. From declassified files from governments, intelligence agencies and the military, to media reports and scientific journals, to interviews with psychiatrists involved in experiments, mind control is on-the-record and official.

It’s worth considering here what British author and pacifist Aldous Huxley wrote in his 1958 non-fiction work Brave New World Revisited: “It is perfectly possible for a man to be out of prison, and yet not free – to be under no physical constraint and yet to be a psychological captive, compelled to think, feel and act as the representatives of the national state, or of some private interest within the nation, wants him to think, feel and act.”

Aldous Huxley (1894-1963)

Huxley was alluding to the dark art of mind control, suggesting who the architects of this malicious behavior modification were and implying its extensive possibilities.

During the course of researching this subject for The Orphan Trilogy we uncovered the little known history of mind control, and it’s something of a long, spooky rabbit hole to say the least. By reading and analyzing court cases, doctors’ reports and declassified documents, we became aware of the often disastrous impact mind control programs have had on the lives of innocent civilians over the decades.

Mind control in the Third Reich

Most of the earliest reports of mind control come from Nazi Germany. In fact, many researchers have surmised that all subsequent mind control programs – including British, Russian and American programs – have firm roots in these early German experiments and applications.

“Hitler’s philosophy and his concept of man in general were shaped to a decisive degree by psychiatry,” according to Dr. Thomas Roeder and his co-authors Volker Kubillus and Anthony Burwell in their 1995 book Psychiatrists: The Men Behind Hitler. They wrote: “An influential cluster of psychiatrists and their frightening theories and methods collectively form the missing piece of the puzzle of Hitler, the Third Reich, the atrocities and their dreadful legacy.”

Lebensborn was one of numerous Nazi programs that incorporated mind control techniques. The SS-backed program, which was a pet project of senior Nazi party member Heinrich Himmler, was set up in 1935 with the goal of increasing the Aryan population. It involved kidnapping thousands of very young children who were deemed to be “racially pure”. Some were orphans, some were not. They were sent to camps built specifically for the mind control tactics which would come to be known as Eindeutschung. Basically, it amounted to brainwashing the children to think like Nazis, even if they were not German.

SS officer Doctor Josef Mengele, infamously nicknamed the Angel of Death for his horrific human experiments at Auschwitz, is said to have been employed in the Lebensborn program, albeit quite secretively.

Josef Mengele.jpg

Dr. Joseph Mengele

Doctor Mengele conducted one of the earliest studies on trauma-based mind control during his tenure at the Auschwitz concentration camp. Some researchers say that the Angel of Death’s mind control methodologies became the primary brainwashing techniques used to reprogram the young children in Lebensborn facilities Europe-wide.

These advances in mind control techniques and technologies didn’t disappear with the fall of Nazi Germany. When the Soviets and the Americans invaded the country and divided the spoils, they both inherited these sophisticated mind control breakthroughs.

Project Bluebird was the CIA’s first official behavior modification program. Created in 1949, its purpose was to study behavior modification, interrogation and general mind control as well as interrelated subjects.

Bluebird was an umbrella project spawned from the US Government’s super-secret Project Paperclip. Also known as Operation Paperclip, it was a sinister venture that brought hundreds of Nazi scientists to America immediately after World War Two. They were spirited into the US, often with new identities. Many were experts in brainwashing and other mind control methods. Some were even known war criminals, prosecuted during the Nuremberg Trials.

Nazis at the Nuremberg Trials.

Yes you read that right: the US Government’s mind control programs stem directly from the horrendous psychiatric experiments the Nazis conducted during the Holocaust.

Again, this may all sound very far-fetched, but we implore you to do the research if you can’t believe it. Paperclip is on-the-record, and fascist methodologies really did worm their way into nations throughout the West. (See chapter 12 for the history of Project Paperclip).

The sad thing was Seventeen would remain completely unaware she was being exploited, such were the ramifications of the insidious mind control programs. The Ninth Orphan

By 1950, Project Bluebird had morphed into Project Artichoke, which was a forerunner to the better known Project MK-Ultra. Artichoke included non-consensual medical experiments in which elite psychiatrists created new identities in some people, amnesia in others and inserted false memories into the minds of the remaining subjects.

Professional magician John Mulholland was quietly recruited by Artichoke administrators to hypnotize subjects and prepare them for mind control experiments. In the early 1950’s, he stopped performing magic shows, citing health problems. However, it was later revealed Mulholland had actually become an intelligence agent for the Central Intelligence Agency.

The following excerpt from a now declassified CIA memo dated 1952 summarizes the agency’s motivations with Artichoke: “Can we get control of an individual to the point where he will do our bidding against his will and even against fundamental laws of nature, such as self-preservation?”

The most documented government mind control program worldwide is Project MK-Ultra. This human research operation in behavioral engineering began in the early 1950’s and was run through the CIA’s Scientific Intelligence Division. It continued for a quarter of a century, and it used American and Canadian citizens as its test subjects, usually without their knowledge or consent.

Doctor Sidney Gottlieb was in charge of MK-Ultra from its inception until the mid-1960’s. By all accounts a callous and eccentric individual, Gottlieb was the inspiration for Peter Sellers’ title role in Stanley Kubrick’s 1964 black comedy Dr. Strangelove.

Still of Peter Sellers in Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

Peter Sellers as Dr. Strangelove.

Many researchers have deduced that the CIA’s goal was to create real-life Manchurian Candidates. We’d have to agree, although there are probably wider applications of effective mind control than producing programmed assassins.

As a result of the United States’ Freedom of Information Act, tens of thousands of government documents relating to Project MK-Ultra have been obtained by independent researchers. Other documents regarding MK-Ultra have also been officially declassified.

The project finally came to the American public’s attention in 1975 when it was discussed in the US Congress.

President Gerald Ford also set up a commission to investigate MK-Ultra and other CIA activities. This led to Senate hearings on MK-Ultra in 1977 during which Senator Ted Kennedy stated: “The Deputy Director of the CIA revealed that over 30 universities and institutions were involved in an extensive testing and experimentation program which included covert drug tests on unwitting citizens at all social levels, high and low, native Americans and foreign.”

Seemingly following the same mind control protocols laid down by the Nazis, the CIA selected people from the most vulnerable sectors of American society to experiment on – orphans, the mentally ill, prisoners, the poor, the handicapped. Basically those who didn’t have a voice or the wherewithal to seek help.

Two young victims of the Nazi era.

CIA doctors involved in MK-Ultra experiments incorporated various methods to manipulate people’s brains and alter their mental states. These included disruptive electromagnetic signals, sensory deprivation, hypnosis, electroshock, sexual abuse and drugs, especially LSD.

Equally disturbing, the list of infamous people connected to, or rumored to be associated with, MK-Ultra almost reads like a who’s who of the worst American criminals in the 20th Century.

Lawrence Teeter, the lawyer representing Robert F. Kennedy’s assassin, Sirhan Sirhan, proposed that his client was an MK-Ultra victim. Teeter stated Sirhan displayed all the signs of being hypnotized before and after RFK’s assassination.

Enough evidence exists to conclude that Theodore Kaczynski, otherwise known as the Unabomber, participated in MK-Ultra experiments conducted at Harvard University from 1959 to 1962. Although these Harvard experiments appeared relatively benign, they were surreptitiously sponsored by the CIA and that seems tantamount to a smoking gun.

Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh – a decorated Gulf War veteran – claimed to have been implanted with some kind of microchip while serving in the US Army. He also claimed he was yet another victim of MK-Ultra’s vast web.

Timothy McVeigh…also mind-controlled?

Interestingly, the US Army Major and mind control victim that Denzel Washington played in the 2004 remake of The Manchurian Candidate also had a microchip implanted in his body. Perhaps in a case of art imitating life, Washington’s character was also a decorated Gulf War veteran who served in Operation Desert Storm, just as McVeigh did.

The 1978 Jonestown massacre in the jungles of Guyana is considered by various independent investigators to have been a large scale MK-Ultra experiment. Until 9/11, the Jonestown tragedy had the dubious distinction of being the greatest loss of American civilian lives in one single act. (See more on Jonestown in chapter 10).

There are also possible MK-Ultra links to Ronald Reagan’s would-be assassin John Hinkley, Jr., as well as John Lennon’s killer Mark David Chapman. Suspiciously, a copy of The Catcher in the Rye was found on both men upon their arrest – suspicious as J.D. Salinger’s classic novel is said by many to be a mind control trigger device for MK-Ultra victims. (See chapter 27 for more on The Catcher in the Rye).

In 1976, more than two decades after MK-Ultra began, President Gerald Ford prohibited “experimentation with drugs on human subjects, except with the informed consent, in writing and witnessed by a disinterested party, of each such human subject.”

However, repeated rumors suggest the MK-Ultra program continues – probably under another codename and perhaps as a Black Op rather than a government-sanctioned project.

For example, some say mind control technologies were employed during the First Gulf War on Saddam Hussein’s million-strong Iraq army. This theory suggests the US army unleashed a type of advanced mind interference weapon so that Iraqi soldiers would lose their sanity and therefore surrender without much resistance or bloodshed. Although the Iraq army did surrender relatively quickly and there were reports of unusual goings on, it must be noted this Gulf War theory is not remotely proven and remains mere speculation.

Iraqi POW’s in the Gulf War…Insane?

At the civilian level, more MK-Ultra victims continue to come forward. In 1995, there were new US congressional hearings on MK-Ultra, which included statements made by mind control victims and the therapists who treated them.

Kentbridge’s guilt stemmed from the fact he’d reluctantly agreed to enter his orphans into the MK-Ultra program – and while they were still very young. Naylor had convinced him at the time Omega needed a way to control its orphans if any of them ever rebelled. The Ninth Orphan

Brainwashing rumors

The self-proclaimed mind control victims have gotten weirder and weirder in recent years. They include those who claim they have been Eyes Wide Shut-style sex slaves under mind control their entire lives.

A word of caution is needed when considering these recent and highly sensational mind control claims. Firstly, it must be taken into consideration that those who are mentally unstable can latch on to reported projects like MK-Ultra as a way of validating their existence or else attempting to circumnavigate their mental illness. Secondly, mind control reports in the 21st Century have become a lot more hazy. They should not be compared to the highly documented mind control projects of the 20th Century – like MK-Ultra.

That’s not to say some of these more recent reports are aren’t true. However, the problem is the whole mind control subject has now become entangled in celebrity worship and conspiracy theorists with hidden agendas.

The Internet and sites like YouTube are awash with conspiracy theories about one of MK-Ultra’s rumored, yet so far unproven, spin-off programs – Project Monarch. Conspiracy theorists say Monarch involves, among other things, the control of famous artists in Hollywood and in the music industry in particular. The apparent aim being to negatively influence the masses.

Celebrities mentioned in connection with Monarch include dead icons like Marilyn Monroe, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Brittany Murphy, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and even Elvis Presley. Living stars supposedly in the program include almost every major celebrity alive – to our eyes at least. Stars that conspiracy theorists mention time and again include Britney Spears, Tiger Woods, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Megan Fox, Nicki Minaj, Paris Hilton, Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus and Rihanna. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg in terms of names bandied around.

The key fact is Project Monarch’s existence is not verified by any declassified documents or any other official government materials for that matter. This is confirmed by Michael Barkun, a professor emeritus of political science at Syracuse University, who states in his 2003 book, A Culture of Conspiracy: Apocalyptic Visions in Contemporary America, that “scholarly and journalistic treatments of MK-ULTRA make no mention of a Project Monarch”.

Monarch is therefore far more speculative than MK-Ultra and other documented mind control programs. Frankly, Monarch tends to undermine those proven mind control projects.

You also have to factor in that small but vocal segment of society who are completely obsessed with celebrity and can never get enough stories about their favorite icons. Consider the countless conspiracies on Elvis let alone Michael Jackson, Princess Diana et al. Famous figures like these seem to attract conspiracy theories like moths to the flames. And certain fans of theirs – perhaps with sycophantic tendencies – seem programmed (no pun intended) to create or add to myths surrounding these celebrities.

Whenever celebrities die, the conspiracy theorists inevitably go into overdrive. All the speculation about the death of Fast and Furious star Paul Walker in late 2013 is possibly a good example of this disturbing phenomenon.

Although conspiracy theorists have arguably come up with some interesting circumstantial evidence on certain celebrities, it’s very possible Project Monarch is entirely fictitious. Or put another way, it could easily be a load of BS!

Naylor, who had always lusted after the seventeenth-born orphan, had misused his powers and treated the blue-eyed blonde as his personal sex slave. He’d resorted to using the MK-Ultra voice-commands to induce her to do whatever he asked. No-one else was aware of this. Not even his victim. In the process, after years of abuse, Seventeen had finally cracked. In medical terms, she had suffered a mental breakdown; in truth, she’d become yet another victim of MK-Ultra, and of Naylor. The Orphan Uprising

In the last 15 years or so, there has been a spate of popular movies released featuring mind control and including the incredible history of Project MK-Ultra. Examples include Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, The Men Who Stare at Goats starring George Clooney, Conspiracy Theory with Mel Gibson, the Bourne series starring Matt Damon and The Manchurian Candidate with Denzel Washington.

Conspiracy theorists say these films spilled quite a few secrets and point to Kubrick’s Illuminati symbolism and mind controlled sex slaves in Eyes Wide Shut, the hypnotic triggers in The Manchurian Candidate as well as the post-assassination amnesia in the Bourne movies. Many of these cinematic moments do indeed appear to be based on actual MK-Ultra reports.

Many believe Stanley Kubrick included mind control warnings in ‘Eyes Wide Shut’.

On the flip side, Hollywood tends to embellish certain real-world conspiracies for the sake of entertainment. Unfortunately, these embellishments end up being added into the melting pot of mind control lore. When the public are so easily influenced by movies, books and other forms of entertainment, it often makes it difficult to distinguish fiction from reality.

As novelists and filmmakers ourselves, we are guilty of this as well. And here’s an inside tip about the entertainment industry: When it comes to bending the truth to assist a story’s plot versus staying completely true to the facts, we can assure you any dramatist will always select the former. Mark Twain’s old saying “Never let the truth get in the way of a good story” still reigns in Hollywood.

And, of course, we could be totally wrong in all our assumptions concerning mind control. In which case, you can now relax in the knowledge that your thoughts are indeed your own. No governments or corporations are waging war on your mind. You’re just being paranoid!

Just in case though, maybe keep wearing that tinfoil hat until all the facts are in…
