In 1998, one of us (James) took a guided tour through the Pentagon, the US Department of Defense headquarters in Arlington County, Virginia. It was quite an eye-opener.

The tour guide was a young military staffer and the other 50 or so tour party members included a chubby, garrulous boy of about eight or nine who spoke with a southern drawl and was constantly eating. Between mouthfuls of food, the boy interrupted the tour guide’s running commentary in a loud voice, asking, “What about the levels below the Pentagon, sir?”

The tour guide politely but firmly replied, “Son, there are no levels below the Pentagon, what you see is all there is.”

That reply seemed to satisfy the boy until about five minutes later he repeated the question and received a near identical response. This same question-same answer pattern continued for the remainder of the tour, visibly raising the young staffer’s aggravation levels every time he was interrupted and forced to answer the persistent boy.

In all likelihood the boy had watched TV shows or movies referencing the conspiracy theory which insists there are miles of tunnels, subterranean levels and underground bunkers below the Pentagon, suggesting what’s seen above ground is merely the tip of the iceberg.

Pure fantasy? Imagine for a moment a reality where all the technologies that futurists have predicted have already been invented and are currently being used by a privileged few.

There have been numerous reports of scientific inventions that never saw the light of day even though they were perfected and ready to go on the market. Rumors of these radical inventions date back to the post-Industrial Revolution period in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, and have persisted right up to and including the present day.

UNDERGROUND BASES: Subterranean Military Facilities and the Cities Beneath Our Feet (The Underground Knowledge Series Book 7) by [Morcan, James, Morcan, Lance]

****************************************

In the 21st Century, it’s basically common knowledge and certainly widely accepted that the Pentagon, in Arlington County, Virginia, has multiple levels of enormous bunkers and an immense network of tunnels beneath its visible exterior.

The Pentagon January 2008.jpg

Aerial photograph of the Pentagon…taken in 2008.

It makes complete sense, too. You’d expect the Department of Defense’s headquarters of the world’s greatest superpower would have multiple access routes and escape tunnels to accommodate sudden evacuations and other emergency actions.

We examine the Pentagon and describe, as well as speculate, what lies beneath it in our new release book UNDERGROUND BASES: Subterranean Military Facilities and the Cities Beneath Our Feet.

Here’s an excerpt from a chapter devoted to the Pentagon:

For an overview of the Pentagon’s official history and specifications, History.com  is hard to beat. Excerpts follow from a January 15, 2013 article by author Barbara Maranzani published on the site:

“On January 15, 1943, work was completed on the new headquarters for the U.S. War Department…in Arlington, Virginia. The massive complex, commonly known as the Pentagon, was built to house the nearly 30,000 defense workers tasked with helping America win World War II. With more than 17 miles of corridors, it remains one of the largest office buildings in the world, and has become a symbol—for better and for worse—of military might.”

Ms Maranzani then lists a series of little known facts about the Pentagon. The following are some of the more interesting:

“One of (Brigadier General Brehorn) Somervell’s first dictates was that the massive building be no taller than five stories (plus two stories below ground). This was due, in part, to…a more practical reason–the steel shortage already underway in a nation girding for war. Instead of steel, the building was built primarily of reinforced concrete, 435,000 cubic yards of it…

“It’s pretty difficult to understand just how big the Pentagon is. In fact, the U.S. Capitol could fit into just one of the building’s five sides, and with 5,100,000 square feet, it has twice the office space of the Empire State Building.”

The author concludes that in the wake of 9/11, “when American Airlines Flight 77 smashed into the building’s east side… plans were soon underway for an extensive reconstruction program, dubbed the Phoenix Project, which was completed in February 2003 at a cost of $5 billion—five times the cost of the original building.”

As an interesting aside, Ms Maranzani reveals that the same person oversaw both the Pentagon’s construction and the Manhattan Project, the initiative that resulted in the development of the world’s first atomic bomb. She writes, “While Somervell was officially in charge of the Pentagon project, it fell to…Major Leslie Groves, to make it a reality…While still working on the Pentagon, Groves was also put in charge of the Manhattan Project” and “was involved in nearly every aspect of the top-secret project, selecting and constructing clandestine sites for the research facilities and its workers across the country.”

That’s the official account of the Pentagon and its construction specifications and history.

However, it’s the unofficial story we are interested in.

There are many subterranean facilities around the world used for a variety of purposes that range from storing weapons, machinery and equipment to providing underground office space, assembly areas and safe houses. Many of these are officially acknowledged. Some aren’t. It’s those that aren’t that we focus on in our new book UNDERGROUND BASES: Subterranean Military Facilities and the Cities Beneath Our Feet.

UNDERGROUND BASES: Subterranean Military Facilities and the Cities Beneath Our Feet (The Underground Knowledge Series Book 7)

We address the mystery that is classified underground bases in our book. Here’s an excerpt:

Those who have researched unacknowledged subterranean facilities are almost unanimous in their belief that the bases are funded by black budgets financed by a combination of banksters, drug wars and profits from (mainly mineral) resources plundered from unwitting Third World countries.

The US program for building these underground bunkers is known as DUMB, or Deep Underground Military Bases. DUMB has apparently been in operation since the late 1940’s and there are now said to be hundreds of such bases in almost every state in mainland America.

“Two baseline questions regarding whether or not DUMBs actually exist: Do the elite command the technology to create underground cities connected by supersonic Maglev trains? Are the elite psychopathic enough to intentionally disrupt Earth’s life-support system?” -Veterans Today, February 10, 2013 article Elite Underground.

In Washington D.C. it has been widely reported by mainstream media that there’s a vast tunnel system below the capital. And it’s our understanding that at any given time there are hundreds of security personnel patrolling the tunnels, on foot or with the aid of motorized vehicles.

Very likely many of D.C.’s tunnels lead to and from the White House. The often-told stories of Marilyn Monroe being sneaked in and out of the White House via underground tunnels to meet with JFK would seem to confirm this. Such tales reveal the capital’s extensive tunnel system enabled Marilyn to be the President’s mistress without much scandal – for a period, at least.

In an article dated April 4, 2011, the UK’s Daily Mail asks if “a secret lair was being built under the White House”.

The Daily Mail article continues: “The West Wing of the White House is all-but disappearing behind an $86 million building project that is going to last for years. And a mysterious tunnel is being built, fuelling speculation that a secret underground lair is what’s really under construction.

“In recent weeks, an expanding and sometimes ear-splitting zone of excavation has enveloped the mansion’s famous office wing…

“The White House already has a number of tunnels —the exact number is, of course, classified.

“The most well known is the underground corridor that leads to the President’s Emergency Operations Center (PEOC), a supposedly nuclear-proof bunker located six stories under the East Wing. It was to this bunker and its adjacent Executive Briefing Room that Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice, among others, directed Government operations on September 11, 2001.

“While Hollywood and many conspiracy theorists suggest a rabbit warren of subterranean passageways— including mythical tunnels to Capitol Hill and even Camp David —there is at least one hidden passageway that has been revealed in the famous residence.”

The Daily Mail confirms “a 50-yard tunnel leads from a concealed doorway in the Oval Office to the basement of the First Family’s residence” in the East Wing.

“The clandestine passage was built during Ronald Reagan’s presidency as a way to guard the President in a terrorist attack…Pressing a panel on a wall adjacent to the President’s rest room next to the Oval Office causes a secret door to slide open, leading to a staircase down to the passageway.”

The Daily Mail also asserts there is talk of a tunnel linking the White House to Blair House across Pennsylvania Avenue.

Before It’s News columnist Monica Davis, in an article dated February 20, 2013, says “the massive 4 year White House construction project has finally been completed.” She’s referring to the same “secret lair” the Daily Mail reported on earlier.

Excerpts from Ms Davis’ article follow:

“The deep, underground project continues to be shrouded in secrecy and has reportedly been planned for 40 years…

“Given that the president has so many fortified hidey holes, why was this one built? What does its construction really mean for the security of the most powerful man in the world?

“…And deep underground, whatever has been built there remains shrouded in mystery.”

“The secret history of the 20th Century and the early 21st Century.” – That’s how Dr. Takaaki Musha, a former senior research scientist at the Technical Research and Development Institute of Japan’s Ministry of Defense, describes our new release book, The Orphan Conspiracies: 29 Conspiracy Theories from The Orphan Trilogy.

Book bridges gap between fiction and fact.

Dr. Musha, who is also Director of Japan’s Advanced-Science Technology Research Organization and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Space Exploration, kindly penned the Foreword in our book – a book he believes “discloses exactly what is happening right now…in the corridors of power, in prime banks and meetings of the global elite.”

Dr. Takaaki Musha

As the title of our new book suggests, The Orphan Conspiracies examines 29 conspiracy theories highlighted in our top rating international thriller series, The Orphan Trilogy. It fully explores the real-world suppositions, assumptions and theories we included in our fictional series and provides answers to the questions our readers have been asking.

Over the coming weeks, starting today with Dr. Musha’s Foreword, we will feature excerpts from The Orphan Conspiracies: 29 Conspiracy Theories from The Orphan Trilogy. Conspiracy theories explored range from false flag operations, international banksters, genius techniques of the elite and suppressed science to the Queen’s invisible riches, the Medical Industrial Complex and real-life Manchurian Candidates.

We welcome comment and feedback from you, our readers and followers…

 The Orphan Conspiracies: 29...

THE ORPHAN CONSPIRACIES

Foreword

The Orphan Conspiracies: 29 Conspiracy Theories from The Orphan Trilogy, by James Morcan & Lance Morcan, contains hard-to-find knowledge. This book is based on the political, scientific and financial insights contained in the Morcans’ bestselling international thriller series The Orphan Trilogy.

Throughout The Orphan Trilogy, James & Lance merge fact with fiction by incorporating real-world theories on known individuals and organizations. Now, with this non-fiction companion volume, they provide detailed analysis for each one of those controversial theories.

In many ways, this exhaustively-researched book is the secret history of the 20th Century and the early 21st Century. But more than a history lesson, it also discloses exactly what is happening right now behind the scenes – in underground bunkers, in the corridors of power, in prime banks and meetings of the global elite.

Currently, the world is in a desperate state due to environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources and food supplies, and economic inequalities. To solve these problems and to reach the next level of Mankind, a “new innovation of technology” is required. But nowadays innovative technologies such as cold fusion, and radical energy sources, including sonoluminescent-triggered fusionand anti-gravitational propulsion, are either being withheld or blocked by governments, old-fashioned science academia and multinational corporations.

The Orphan Conspiracies: 29...

I believe that the Big-Bang Theory and the Evolution Theory, as well as Einstein’s Special Relativity Theory which does not allow for the existence of faster-than-light (superluminal) phenomena, all have flaws in them and must be replaced by new theories that can give Mankind a more concise view of our Universe. But the fact is exceptional discoveries and theories that challenge official science have been ignored by the Establishment for decades.

I was employed for many years as a senior research scientist developing naval underwater weapon systems at the Technical Research and Development Institute of the Ministry of Defense, Japan, and I often suspected there existed extraordinary technologies developed by the world’s superpowers. I am of the opinion that most of these technologies have been concealed from the public’s eyes.

The world’s governments have many classified layers and outsiders rarely gain access to their hidden secrets. And certainly no common man can get confirmation of the existence of exotic technologies.

I was also part of a team of scientists in the Advanced Space Propulsion Investigation Committee (ASPIC), which was organized by the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences in 1994. ASPIC’s purpose was to study all kinds of non-chemical space propulsion systems instead of conventional rocket systems for space missions to nearby planets, the Moon and the outer Solar System. This included field propulsion systems which utilize zero-point energy, the electro-gravitic effect and the non-Newtonian gravitic effect predicted in Einstein’s Theory of Gravity.

The Orphan Conspiracies: 29...

During my time with ASPIC, I strongly felt that some of the gravity control systems could have been realized, or had already been realized, but were being overshadowed by existing science. Such radical space technologies never reach the public because unknown groups do not wish humanity to have access to the highest knowledge or the most advanced scientific inventions. Perhaps this suppression is out of fear that the masses may be able to explore our Solar System and the Universe beyond it.

Whatever the case, it seems they want us to stay at ignorant levels forever.

This book is also about the purposeful bankrupting of nations around the world, the inherently corrupt monetary system and the scam of modern banking – all of which have obviously become major vices of our era. I believe that financial domination is one of the main methods used to enslave the people of this world.

I expect readers of this book will be surprised by the level of knowledge imparted in its pages especially with its revelations of exotic technologies, financial injustices, political deceptions and suppressed scientific discoveries. I also expect readers will be inspired by the lifting of the veil that occurs when long-guarded information is absorbed.

Lastly, I sincerely hope that the publication of this book contributes to a global awakening which assists the future creation of new scientific theories and technologies – including space propulsion systems – that are not currently on the mainstream scientific agenda.

-Dr. Takaaki Musha, Director of the Advanced-Science Technology Research Organization (Japan) / Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Space Exploration (Mehta Press) / Former senior research scientist at the Technical Research and Development Institute of the Ministry of Defense, Japan.

“The moral of this tale is that you don’t ever, ever abduct the young son of your best and most dangerous operative.” – That’s according to c9c Reviews’ Andrew Thompson in his Amazon review of our conspiracy thriller The Orphan Uprising (The Orphan Trilogy, #3).

Thriller resonates

Andrew’s 4-Star review lowers this novel’s 5-Star average rating (to 4.9 Stars) on Amazon. However, it’s such an insightful review we thought we’d share it with you…

Be careful who you kidnap

The moral of this tale is that you don’t ever, ever abduct the young son of your best and most dangerous operative. Such people will go to great lengths to get their children back, especially as they are very aware of the horrors that await their offspring.

Nine does his very best to look after his pregnant wife while attempting to rescue his son. His employers should have known better and they learn their lesson. Nine is hampered by a heart ailment, but despite this he manages to keep his promises to his family.

Another, final, installment of the Orphan series which does not disappoint.

Truthdig.com, the online news site that takes pride in “drilling beneath the headlines”, has done it again: it has conjured up the most insightful review we’ve managed to uncover yet on what surely will turn out to be one of the most talked-about books of 2014…

We refer, of course, to Luke Harding’s The Snowden Files, which provides an eye-opening overview of whistleblower Edward Snowden’s running battle with the National Security Agency after leaking thousands of classified files to news organizations.

Book reviewer Greg Miller, national security correspondent for The Washington Post, reminds readers via his truthdig.com review of Feb.21 that author Luke Harding is the same LH who is a correspondent for The Guardian newspaper, which broke the initial Snowden story.

Miller also reminds us that “the course that Snowden chose…surreptitiously stockpiling thousands of classified files, leaking them…and finally fleeing first to Hong Kong and then Russia has been polarizing. He has been condemned as treasonous and hailed as courageous. Either way, his story is one of the most compelling in the history of American espionage.”

Further excerpts (abridged) from Miller’s review follow:

“The Snowden Files”…is the first to assemble the sequence of events in a single volume. The book captures the drama of Snowden’s operation in often cinematic detail but doesn’t necessarily enhance our understanding of the magnitude and impact of the leaks. It is most successful when focused tightly on its then-29-year-old protagonist, whose youth and low station in the spy world were so at odds with the caliber of the material he accessed that his journalist contacts, upon meeting him for the first time, shook their heads in disbelief. Snowden comes across as almost icily composed. He seems to have been undaunted by the challenge of outmaneuvering his employer, the National Security Agency, the largest spy agency in the world. He choreographed his encounters with journalists and revealed himself to the world largely on his own terms…

…Although the book is billed as “the inside story of the world’s most wanted man,” there is no indication Harding had direct contact with his subject. Instead, it reads more like the inside account of Snowden’s interactions with The Guardian. The details drawn from those encounters are fascinating, if not always illuminating. Snowden was so concerned about security at the hotel where they met that the few times he left his room he placed a glass of water behind the door, positioned to spill on a piece of tissue paper marked with a symbol sketched in soy sauce…

…“The Snowden Files” won’t be the last book on this subject nor likely the best, with Gellman and Greenwald titles already in the works. But Harding has delivered a clearly written and captivating account of the Snowden leaks and their aftermath, succeeding beyond its most basic ambition, which was to arrive in bookstores first.

Many of the concerns Snowden has raised regarding America’s surveillance programs and its espionage methodologies are highlighted in our top rated conspiracy thriller series The Orphan Trilogy (The Ninth Orphan / The Orphan Factory / The Orphan Uprising). That’s not to say we necessarily sympathize with Snowden or approve of his actions, but we do sympathize with many of the ‘Big Brother’ concerns he and others like him have raised.

The Orphan Conspiracies: 29 Conspiracy Theories from The Orphan Trilogy will be a departure from the usual for us: it’s non-fiction whereas all our other published titles to date – including The Orphan Trilogy (The Ninth Orphan / The Orphan Factory / The Orphan Uprising) and Fiji: A Novel – are works of fiction.

Most of our research into conspiracy theories comes from scoping and writing The Orphan Trilogy between 2004 and 2013. The Orphan Conspiracies will highlight the 29 conspiracies that feature in the trilogy, and will provide in depth studies of each with additional comment.

Dedicated to truth-seekers and whistleblowers everywhere, just some of the conspiracies featured will include False Flag operations, MK-Ultra and the secret history of mind control, human cloning, the US Federal Reserve, suppressed technologies, Bilderberg, the pharmaceutical conspiracy, the myth of a free media, Project Paperclip, secret CIA prisons, Area 52 and, most appropriately, experimentation on orphans…and many more.

Meanwhile, The Orphan Trilogy continues to be a regular visitor to Amazon’s bestseller lists. While the series has fictional characters, it shines the spotlight on real organizations and also on shadow groups rumored to exist in the real world. In many ways it merges fiction with reality.

Book three in our conspiracy thriller series The Orphan Trilogy has maintained its average 5-star rating with Amazon reviewers with a stellar review from Lynelle Clark, Editor of the respected ‘Aspired Writer’ literary blog.

The Orphan Uprising

Here’s Ms Clark’s (abridged) review:

***** Great end to a series

A sad but fitting ending to a great series. It was my privilege to read all three books in this series, and what a wonderful and exciting read it was.

Book 3 continued years later with Nine and Seventeen as the main characters. Isabella in her supporting role as wife, mother and sister-in-law brought the human aspect back in as their struggle continue to outrun and outwit the Omega Agency.

This time the Agency’s target was Nine’s son, seven year old Francis. Abducted from his home, we once again traveled the world with Nine as he searched for his son. As always you are drawn into the plot as it unfolds with its many layers, that kept you guessing and hoping until the very end…

Fast paced and well written the story meet up with the family, Isabella far advance in her second pregnancy, and Nine struggling with a heart condition when their son is abducted. It took all of Nine’s skills to search and destroy the Agency that once trained him. Now he used everything he knew against them, running against time to get his son from this diabolic group.

Led by Naylor, they did everything they could to prevent Nine…This man was brutal, ruthless, and a heartless bastard with no emotions as he tried to catch Nine and Isabella, using people as he wished with no second thought. Their was no remorse as he hunts them down, his main objective to get them out of the way to go ahead with his cloning project, with Francis as his main focus…

I loved the way the authors brought in each orphan as Nine and Seventeen met them, reminiscing about their youth before they did the ultimate…As always the book was filled with descriptive and in-depth scenes, interesting characters and great story line. From Tahiti, Greenland, America and to the heart of the DRC this was evident. Plotting and scheming with Drug Lords and Militia Captain’s to get the job done…

Nine’s determination, skills and cunningness put him ahead of the Agency, willing to risk all to save his son. His humanity more at the forefront as he raced against his own heart problems, not willing to stop until…

A great book and series I can recommend to all readers who loves a good spy thriller with all the elements of action, adventure and humanity inside to give you hours of enjoyable reads…Loved it.

The following interview with James Morcan, co-author of our conspiracy thriller series, The Orphan Trilogy (The Ninth Orphan / The Orphan Factory / The Orphan Uprising) appeared in today’s edition of the prestigious Chicago web publication Gapers Block. You’ll see its interest in the trilogy stems from the fact that Chicago – and, indeed, Illinois – features prominently throughout.

The Orphan Trilogy’s Chicago connection

By Kathryn Pulkrabek

Good spies aren’t born; they’re made. Such is the case for the genetically altered spies in The Orphan Trilogy, a series of international conspiracy thrillers by New Zealand authors James Morcan and Lance Morcan.

Orphan_Trilogy.jpg

Chicago is featured prominently as the site of the Pedemont Orphanage, where 23 orphans acquire the skills to become stealthy, cold-blooded killers. James Morcan was happy to shed some light on how the city’s famed work ethic influenced the decision to begin the story here,  and to discuss whether we’ll see any Pedemont Orphanage alums skulking around Chicago corners in the near future…

Image of James Morcan
Trilogy co-author James

Q: The books of The Orphan Trilogy take place in a variety of exotic locales… Why did you choose Chicago, a city with blue-collar roots in America’s heartland, as the site of the Pedemont Orphanage, the place where it all began?

Even though the orphans in our series were genetically engineered by an extremely wealthy organization, their masters want them to develop “everyman” qualities in order for them to eventually be able to integrate with wherever they go. Being a working-class city, Chicago seemed like the ideal location as soon as we started writing the trilogy.

It’s also a city where the history is evident and the ghosts of earlier generations can be felt almost everywhere — generations who built the city brick by brick and through blood, sweat and tears. It’s not Los Angeles or Las Vegas or Miami. In fact, it’s the antithesis of those cities in many ways. Chicago always struck me as a more traditional American city where hard work is respected more than anything else. The folks I have met from Chicago and Illinois in general seem to me to be people who aim to do things well and with integrity. And those are precisely the values that the head of the Pedemont Orphanage, Tommy Kentbridge, wants to instil in the orphans for them to become the ultimate spies.

Q: What’s your relationship to Chicago? What kind of research did you conduct to create a snapshot of Chicago in the 1970s?

I visited Chicago on my travels not long after leaving high school in the late 1990s. I remember arriving via Amtrak at Chicago’s Union Station at about three a.m. and waiting in the Loop for the sun to rise. I remember seeing the city slowly awaken and then swarms of people arriving for a new day’s work. This experience remained vivid in my mind for some reason, and it inspired a sequence in The Orphan Factory (book two in the series) where Nine, our lead character, is running through the city center at dawn. Being a New Zealander, so much of America was foreign to me at first, but Chicago instantly felt familiar and friendly.

We did have to do quite a bit of research to ensure that late 1970s Chicago, which is when the trilogy starts, was portrayed accurately. We discovered the city has changed a lot with certain communities being quite different between then and now, or in some cases are no longer recognizable.

Q: The Orphan Trilogy shows us that institutions are not necessarily to be trusted, while Number Nine’s individualism is the key to his freedom. Which institutions, organizations and events in particular inspired this view, and who are some individuals you admire for pursuing freedom at any cost?

A combination of things inspired The Orphan Trilogy. Certain events like the bailout of corporations ahead of regular citizens during the global financial crisis and the invasion of vulnerable mineral-rich countries post-9/11, certainly influenced our writing. In recent times, more and more citizens seem to be sensing there must be authorities within governments that are not “for the people,” but actually against the people. More than anything else, we believe that’s why our series is proving to be popular and is establishing a loyal fan base of readers worldwide.

Nine does indeed have that spark of individualism which manifests as rebellion against his masters. Yet he also represents every person who desires justice and freedom. Individuals who we admire and who influenced our themes in the series include Nelson Mandela, Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Julian Assange and Mahatma Gandhi.

Q: The trilogy’s first novel, The Ninth Orphan, is being developed as a feature film. Any chance that you will shoot on location in Chicago? Which actor would you like to see cast as Number Nine?

The Ninth Orphan film adaptation will be shot partly in Chicago and Illinois. Other locations will include Paris, Beijing, London and Manila. We have the perfect actor in mind for the lead role, but as we are also film producers, we learned long ago never to mention an actor’s name until negotiations are complete. Sorry if that sounds evasive…I guess the film industry and spy fields have much in common!
